Well, you can't fault these guys for commitment. A new release is now out with lots of added features and improvements based on user feedback, especially to the software center.

Still some issues to sort out. The network icon for my DSL connection shows a nice red cross and yet in connects fine. It also might look very pretty overall, but the inability to change window borders will put a lot of folks off, me included. The aesthetics are class leading for prettiness (except the window borders) but they need to leave this alone now and concentrate on the basics. The Software Center seems fixed now although no time to make a full install which would be the real test for system updates.

The beta of Deepin 2014 has now been released and billed as "One more step to our dream".
![]() http://planet.linuxdeepin.com/archives/6335 The previous version was pretty innovative and as such suffered from quite a few glitches. You have to give credit to these guys though for persevering with their own DE at a time when Gnome 3, KDE, and even Unity have made significant improvements. IMO if Deepin ever come out with something that works reliably, this will be the distro everyone will want (or should do)

Still no mobile broadband support though so pretty much useless for most folks around here.

I revisited Deepin after reading Dedoimedo`s review and (this time
) I have to agree with everything he says. You could say this looks like a cross between Elementary OS and something better, but it is so truly unique it should not be compared with anything else. Screenshot here. There are many more customization options too than the last release I looked at. I`m impressed enough to run this as a full install on my spare box.
