WPS Office Free 2014 (formerly Kingsoft Office)

Kingsoft Office will be called as WPS Office from now on.

The first beta version for WPS Office 2014 is released.

This is the website for WPS Office.

Kingsoft Office website is still online, and the 2014 beta version is available there. Couldn't find the same on the former website @ www.wps.com.

Note: The 2014 beta version is ad-supported. See below

On the Kingsoft website, it doesn't say beta for the new version. Does it show beta on installation? MajorGeeks too doesn't show the version as beta.

I too checked the WPS site yesterday, but did not find the 2014 version there. Will wait for it.

I found it first at Kingsoft Office Free 2014 Beta (Softpedia)

After download it shows Beta version...Here's the thread at their forum about the new version

There is a new version of WPS Office available on their site now. There is no version number provided though.

It seems that with the free version, they are providing 30 days trial of Home Premium version.

I compared the size of the setup, and size being different, I downloaded the setup and installed WPS Office.

The new version is 9.1.0.4932.

On starting the installation, it will automatically uninstall the previous version of Kingsoft Office.

During the installation of Kingsoft Office, I was provided the option to install the desired tool, for example, the Writer. But not with this version of WPS Office. It straight away started installation, and all three components were installed. Disappointed by that. There should be an option to choose.

The Kingsoft Office still continues to exist and offer download of Kingsoft Office. However, on starting the download there, the size is 60.8 MB, the same one as the setup on WPS site. I wonder if the same setup will be downloaded.

Strangely 360IS on my laptop quarantined the file automatically after running the installer. It's a heuristic detection, so probably a false-positive, but this hasn't happened before. :|

Including the WPS site, there are now three sites for Kingsoft/WPS Office. Here are the other two:

On the above two sites, different versions are shown... 9.1.0.4759.

Just to check, I downloaded it. The version I got was 2014 Beta 3. Does not say on the site that it is a beta version. They should display it clearly. There is no indication of the version number on current WPS site too. Should be there.

The download from both the sites are from WPS site though. Don't know what's happening.

Anyways, seems like the version obtained from WPS site is not beta.

Downloaded it again and this time there was no alert. The previous download was an incomplete one.

Good to see that there's no adware anymore in this stable version unlike the previous beta versions.
