This High-end Photo Editing App for Mobile is Now Free

SnapseedSnapseedNik Software has made an impressive progress in the world of professional digital photography. One of their products, Snapseed, wins Apple's iPad App of the Year 2011 and TIPA Award for Best Mobile Photo App 2012.

Snapseed used to cost $4.99 in Apple's App Store but it's now offered free by Google after it acquired Nik Software back in September 2012.

While it's a valuable app for the iOS platform, Google has also made it available for Android users and it's also free, of course.

This app is full of rich features needed by professionals and yet it's very easy to use for any amateurs either running it in a small screen on a smart phone, or in a large screen on a tablet.

The design of the app is well thought out. After you take a photo from your device's camera or choose an image file from your library, you can select one of the filters from the list, then swipe left and right on top of the photo to adjust what a filter does, or swipe up and down to gain more controls of the filters.

The filters include almost all you would ever need to edit a photo, such as Auto Correct, Selective Adjust, Tune Image, Straighten and Rotate, Crop, Details, Black and White, Vintage Films, Drama, Grunge, Center Focus, Tilt-Shift, Retrolux and Frames.

At any time, just tap and hold the Compare button and you can see the photo before and after your enhancements. You can then save or share your photo when you're happy with the results.

Use this capable and powerful app to enjoy photographic editing at your fingertips and share your enhanced photos with friends and family. Recommended!

It's worth mentioning that the Android version requires Android 4.0 or higher (Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean).

Thanks for mentioning that. I was thinking of installing this, but it won't install on my Gingerbread phone.

I also wanted to ask... Jojo, have you used Pixlr Express, and how does this one compare to it?

Pixlr Express is also a good editor giving you a quick fix of photos. It takes a different set of tools such as adjustment, effect, overlay and border. It's not exactly the same as Snapseed's set of filters though you can find some similar features between the two.

Checked this out on Google's app store today and there were lots of good reviews. Some with hardware descriptions. 2 of 30 I read mentioned other apps, Pixir Express was one that a user claimed worked better? My girlfriend's Transformer is still alien to me. Like learning Linux.
