Default Dukto - file sharing tool

Hi. I didn’t find this software on the website so I decided to write a post about it.

Dukto is an open source project. It is available for many desktop and mobile operating systems. It is used to share files, folders and texts between all devices using local connections only.
There is great article on gHacks that describes this software much better than I would: http://www.ghacks.net/2015/03/04/duc...sktop-devices/
However for those of you who don’t want to read that, here are some main features of Dukto:

• Simple user interface
• No server or Internet connection needed
• Zero configuration (You just choose the folder you want files to be downloaded to)
• Clients auto-discovery
• High speed file transfer (via LAN)
• Multi-OS native support
• Portable version available for Windows OS
• Multi files and folders transfer
• Transfers log
• Send and receive text snippets (eg. useful for sending URLs)
• Open received files directly from the application
• Windows 7 taskbar integration with progress and transfer indicator
• Show your IP addresses on the IP connection page
• Full Unicode support
• Metro style UI (the same clean UI everywhere, without ads and stuff like that)
• Free and open Source (licensed under GPL)
• Android version needs only one extra permission

It’s available for following systems:
• Windows (XP or later)
• OS X (10.6.x or later)
• Linux (packaged for Ubuntu and Fedora)
• Symbian (for Nokia touch phones)
• Android
• Windows Phone

IMHO it's great alternative for those who need simple file transfer over local area network and don't want to use apps like AirDroid which needs a lot of permissions.

Coincidentally I've just started using Dukto to transfer files between computers running Windows 7 and Linux on my home network.
Simple to set up and use, works a treat, and solved a long term problem I've had trying to set up file sharing using samba.

Now included in this Mobile App of the Week: Transfer Files Between Devices With No Hassle.

It's now also available for iPhone and iPad.

Sound great! I will check this out, but what makes it better than say dropbox or sharing on google?
