The 32bit wouldn't install and when I read about the 64bit on the website I decided not to try it.
From the Slimjet website "64-bit version uses significantly more memory than 32-bit version. It has some stability and performance improvements which are not quite noticable for most people. We do not recommend it for machines with under 8GB memory or nerves sensitive to the memory usage of applications. If your computer has affluent memory and you want to screeze the last bit of performance out of Slimjet, go for it by all means."

Slimjet has improved a lot over the months in 2015. Slimjet 5.0 has just been released. It includes built-in ad blocker, which has higher performance than any other ad blocker extensions. Also, it comes with a turbocharged download manager which boosts file download speed by up to 12 times.
Maybe it is time for you to give it another try. Quote:

Being trying out Slimjet for the past few weeks. It is working great, I cannot fault it so far. It has regular updates, 3 or 4 since I installed it, which is remarkable for a Chromium offshoot. Usually it takes weeks to come up to speed for similar alternative browsers.
So far so good... |

Tried it some weeks ago but wasn't over impressed as was using Cyberfox and couldn't see any real benefits. Later was getting a few problems with Cyberfox and so switched to Chrome and loved it over past 5 or 6 weeks been using it. This morning thought I would try Slimjet again. Wasn't too hard to configure (as already had Chrome as a guide). Now, a few hours later, have got it doing everything Chrome did and more and MUCH faster - including LastPass, Tabs-to-Front, password manager plus the new form fill, zoom and more. So far - LOVE IT. Watch this space.

Don't think they have Android version (yet!).
You should post request on their forum. Did try on LinuxMint Cinnamon 17.3 Rosa beta today and it works just fine (as default too!). Set it up on Docky and was able to "pin it" there with no problems. |
