Default SoftMaker FreeOffice 2018

SoftMaker FreeOffice 2018 version is now available for download. This version allows saving files in docx etc formats too, which I think was missing from the previous version 2016. So, that seems like a good change.

Haven't used the software.. just downloaded.

Requires registration in order to download, and they send the free serial key in the email.

Yes.
However, the older (DOC, XLS & PPT) formats can now only be opened, not saved.
Then again, why would anyone need to save to the older formats?

Really? If that's the case, that's strange. Well, there are some old documents that are in the older format, and what's the harm in keeping them that way?

Well you can, and then open, read and close them in any good Office Suite.

Or you can save them to the newer format(s).
After all, it's a format, not a program.

Here's a link comparing the 3 editions.

Yes, format can be changed, and it's good that finally they support saving in the latest formats.

Thanks for the link, very helpful.
