A 'Ribbon'? Maybe it's just what you get accustomed to but I don't find the MS Ribbon a delight to use.

The Libre Office development team are aiming at more than one market segment with these very useful features. The modifiable interface improves the likelihood that Libre Office will fit into larger office environments where a significant cost is the cost of training for a new interface.
