Thanks eyeb,

I tried Yumi, but just like Rufus and UNetbootin it too failed to boot from the USB memory stick despite numerous attempts including boot from: USB HDD, USB FDD, USB ZIP ad nauseam!

When I get past the POST screen it lists the memory stick but chooses to ignore it; all in all it's very frustrating as all I'm trying to do is install something I've installed before.

I forget what it is called, the boot file where you can open in text file and edit the boot menu.

It probably fails to boot because you have the original boot partition letter different than what the program uses. You can fix it from that boot file manually. When you repartitioned, the letters changed or rearranged themselves.

Or you have USB boot disabled in the bios?

In Yumi I simply specified the drive letter ie as shown in My Computer in XP.

Every time I reboot I try selecting the various options in the BIOS as referred to in my previous post and therefore, I never have USB boot disabled.

Do you have a lot of things on the boot list already? Mine didn't like having more than a few on the list if I remember correctly.

If nothing personal is in the boot file, maybe post the lines for it? Maybe someone might spot something

Well, itís been just over 3 months since I shared my trials and tribulations of dual booting with XP and and MX-16. Despite using YUMI, UNetbootin and Rufus I failed to reinstall either MX-16 or, ideally at the time, MX-17 via a USB memory stick.
New Year, new ideas and a strong resolve to overcome the never ending obstacles in my path finally led me to an IT epiphany!

Iíd never understood why when I entered Boot Menu (F12 on my system) and chose to boot from USB HDD that my PC simply booted from the main HDD and not the USB memory stick. I then noticed that If I entered the BIOS (delete) and went to Advanced Settings it showed me 3 options: 1/ main HDD, 2/ USB memory stick and 3/ something about a certain card that I now canít remember or for that matter care about. After highlighting no. 2, I then tried to move it to the no. 1 position, but failed when attempting to use the + sign on my keyboard. Eventually the penny dropped when I realised that in order to change its position I simply needed to use the number-pad + sign and not the one on the keyboard!

Still not convinced that this would make my PC boot from the USB memory stick I rebooted and joy of joys it booted from the aforementioned.

In this final attempt, I had used YUMI and the brand new MX-18. I now have XP and MX-18 in a dual boot config and Iím a very happy Torres, especially as LFC are top of the Premier League!!
