I just tried to post a reply to a comment in the main site but got this message;
"Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted. If you feel this is in error, please report that you are blocked." I tried it with just a couple of words (thinking perhaps the filter didn't like some of the content) and then tried a couple of other threads as well. It looks as if I can't post anywhere : ( Except in the forums by the look of it : ) This happened to me on one other site a while back, I'm wondering if my gmail address is being used without my knowledge. |

Please send me a PM with the exact text of what you were trying to post originally plus a link to the page you were trying to post it on. I'll take a look then to see what I can work out.

![]() @j c I've no idea why this happens although I gather that false positives aren't unknown. I was refused membership of a well-known horror flick forum some while back because of this. Grrr. At least I can still post in the forum. You lucky people

I think this is my first ever post here and I've run into same issue yesterday...here's what I sent via email as reply to M-2-M form but was suggested I post here as well:
Was just trying to alert y'all that as a brand new registered user, I was blocked from posting my first comment to that product..and then was blocked in trying to send same comments via memebr-to-member form so then tried sending just part of msg as I did which seems to have worked (at least you replied!)...I understand the need to spam filters but there's a couple of other XY users who have run into same spam blocks today trying to provide some info re XYplorer being free again. And this was original text that I managed to get past the member-to-member filter to George G: > I just now registered as you can see BUt when I tried to post a comment to > XYplorer, it was blocked for spam! Huh??? Why??? > Ok, so I was 99% sure that I'd had used this ID some years ago on your site > so entered it on "forgot password" but guess I'd used another variant...did > that cause the ID to be blocked? If so, that's NOT a polite way to handle > things. > > On Sat, Jan 4, 2014 at 10:27 AM, <gizmo [ at ] techsupportalert [ dot ] com> wrote: > > Hi j_c_hallgren, > > I'd like to thank you for registering at our community site. Oh, and I did the "report false block" thingy on both cases... Last edited by Anupam; 05. Jan 2014 at 06:33 PM. Reason: obfuscated email |

I just tried posting a message in that place and... welp... triggered the spam filter again. I just can NEVER post anything here without running into that spam filter either now or in the past before I left out of frustration.
Anyway, MidnightCow, I sent you a PM with what I wanted to post. Can you please find ways to post it? In the meantime, I ended up emailing Mollum about their system but they still haven't replied. |

@ j_c_hallgren
Hello! (well I already know you lol). The reporting thingy does not do much because... Mollum does not seem to really be active in helping. You report it and they probably just look at you with a strange face and moved on. Considering how many complaints I found over the internet about their software, I have not seen much attempt at fixing it from them. @sicknero The problem is, we don't even know what triggers the spam filter. I once tried to simply write: "Hello. I need help. Will you help me?" and it still triggered the spam filter. Mystery. |

Our spam filters may be a little inconvenient at times but they are necessary.
I'm now wondering why this desperate urge from different people to post more comments about XYplorer? ![]() Our moderators tend to regard such instances as promotional spam in their own right so for now, the one post we do have in place is good enough. Please feel free to start a topic about XYplorer in our forum if you wish to provide more information.

Sometimes, the spam filter does not allow posting of content, because of a word, or a couple of words that it may find unsuitable. Or, there might be link(s), which it does not find suitable. This may happen occasionally, which can be considered as a false positive, yes.
If that happens, we request the members to kindly alert the moderators, or administrators about it through proper channels, or by posting here. We have dealt with such issues in the past by looking at the content that was being posted, and then play with the content to understand what was causing the spam filter to trigger. Yes, this can be a inconvenience at times, but please understand that Mollom prevents hundreds of spam each day, and thousands and thousands of spam every month, even more. You cannot imagine the amount of spam the site gets, with such heavy traffic. The spam filter is therefore necessary, and is an important protection in place. However, when you encounter difficulties, please post here, or to a moderator, and we will try to solve the problem for you. Please have patience while we look into the problem, and please do not post repeatedly about it, or do not post about it repeatedly in the threads, if already discussion is going on privately with a staff member. It only creates overlaps and confusions. Posting the content here, or to the staff member will help locate the problem. So, do post that. Also, please understand that we have put nothing in place against XYploer in the spam filter. So, do not blame the staff if the spam filter is somehow getting triggered. If you are encountering problems, please make us aware, so that we can look into the cause, but meanwhile, please have patience. Repeated posting about a product will not be allowed anyways, and repeated posting about any product, and/or unnecessary extra promotion about any product is considered spam by the moderator team, and we will delete such comments, even if passed by the spam filter. Posting or informing once about a product is enough. Fruitful discussions are always welcome. However, if the moderators feel that unnecessary comments about a product are arriving to promote it, we will deal with it suitably. There have been such attempts in the past for some products, and we have dealt with it in the same way. So, multiple postings by multiple IDs about a product on this site will only be detrimental for the product itself, and we may even decide to not feature that product in the reviews too, however good it might be.
