Im creating a website for my business. But my logo looks cartoonish. Im not able to do graphic design myself, im still a novice on gimp. Is there a place I can upload my logo and get it looking like a glass effect and in more definition?

At the moment, I can't think of a suitable product but I have some comments and questions.
Gimp is too much of a challenge for a novice user. There are much easier programs to use. Generally a logo should be scalable so you should be using a vector-graphics program rather than a bitmap/paint/photo editor. What is your logo like? What is it primarily based on: text, simple shapes, a photo?

I found a font sketchpipe at this address http://www.fontspace.com/character/sketchpipes
What I want is it to say Powells Pipes I tried messing around with it but at one stage looked cartoonish. Then when trying to make it glass effect. I could only change the outline colour of the font. |

The aero effect is a combination of transparency, blurring, and a drop shadow.
If you use Microsoft Office then the picture tools allow transparency, e.g. in Microsoft Word, and are vector-based so you can scale it to any size. I tried it using WordArt on an outline font with a drop shadow. I then copied the picture to Microsoft Paint and it maintained the transparent background and the drop shadows when I saved it to a PNG file. That took me a minute so it should be easy enough for you to do. You could use a vector-based drawing program. The problem is that either the learning curve as in Inkscape or the lack of features as in DrawPlus Starter Edition (SE). In the past I have used small text formatting utilities as separate programs or online. Now you know what to look for you should be able to find one by searching the Web.

I forgot to mention that filling an outlined font is usually more difficult because you usually have to manually fill it whether you use a bitmap/paint or vector-based editor. I have used programs that automatically fill outlined fonts but I can't remember any which do this, maybe Gimp.

May be this is what you are looking for.
An online app that is capable of converting any pic to glass effect. I think this will help. Quote:
It is packed with many settings so depending on the user, highly customizable results can be obtained.
