Last time I looked on VB100, Kingsoft Antivirus results were quite poor. They will need to improve on that, if they want it to be a noticeable antivirus.

I find the site of Kingsoft Antivirus quite strange. There is no separate page, where list of features is provided.

The above list of features, in the post... where is it from?

Yes we are working on improving our detection rate by exchanging samples with others and other ways currently.

The features above is written by our product manager just few days ago, and has not been updated on our website.

It would be great to see the detection rates improve, and it will be quite beneficial for the AV to get considerable notice, and good reviews. It's good to hear the team is working on that.

It would be good to see more details about the antivirus on the site... feature list, system requirements, etc... so the users are well informed about the product before they try it.

It's also fair to say that just improving the signature base, by whatever means, is unlikely to make this a top rated tool. Modern broad spectrum antimalwares need to rely on heuristic and other forms of detection, and also have an affective web filtering capability such as Avast! and FortiClient Lite. Maybe KAV has this but the details are not well explained. Even so, the only true test will be to see the new code tested via VB, AV-C, AV-Test and other independent labs.

According to posts over at Wilders, and backed up by a contributor there from Kingsoft, they planned to introduce the Avira engine but this is now on hold. Chinese users have apparently objected to this so development is still "under discussion".

I hope they are able to resolve this matter, but yet another good example of why not to jump on a new product as soon as it gets released.

Considering the known past actions of the Chinese government and military and that most if not all Chinese companies are heavily controlled by their government, it therefore seems very unwise for anyone to trust any computer program or product out of China.

We will let this comment stay as being a personal opinion but in blanket terms it is just a political statement so further expansion along these lines will not be permitted. You can equally comment about government involvement for pretty much any country on the planet, but we are not interested to read about it here. There is plenty of good free software coming out of China, so maybe we should be concentrating on this.
