Default PhotoPad Warning

Hi,
I have installed a few free photo editing programs for beginners, so as to make an educated choice for a cash-strapped beginner friend.

In testing PhotoPad, I found a very disconcerting deal breaker (PhotoPad is not alone in this); PhotoPad strips away ALL of the EXIF data and any other metadata, including any VERY IMPORTANT camera-applied information, such as Date Taken, Author, Exposure, etc., from the saved jpeg.

I researched and hunted and could not find any means of changing this behavior.

I think a warning about this behavior should be included in the "Best Free Digital Image Editor" review.

If I am missing something and there is a way to change this behavior, please let me know.

Thanks.

I just downloaded and installed PhotoPad and the EXIF info is intact.
Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanks for taking the time to check this out.

I will experiment some more; maybe I did something wrong --- I hope so, as I do sort of like the program.

I will post back with my findings.

I tried again and the metadata is still disappearing.

All of the blanks were filled with information prior to PhotoPad.

I am using Windows 7 Pro.

On another note, when I first previewed this post, my image was displayed in the post without having to click on the attachment; but, when I then submitted the post, instead of the image, all I had was the image title.
Try as I may, I finally gave up and made the image an attachment.
