Filehippo is usually the slowest to update among all that's been mentioned here except for tucows and fileforum-betanews. Autoruns is still at v11.22 now at Filehippo http://www.filehippo.com/download_autoruns/ , while on all the other websites its updated to 11.3

At least with filehippo you don't have to go on a clicking merry-go-round to actually download the software!
![]() Also, regarding having the latest updates or not, Filehippo always has the latest full release of FF several days before FF ever does!!

Download.com is CNET and it has fallen out of favor recently because the site has started bundling adware along with the products hosted.

SourceForge has done the same, along with misleading "download" ads. PortableApps.com hosts their downloads in SourceForge anyways.
As for myself, I try to download from the author's website first, then Softpedia, FreewareFiles, MajorGeeks, FileHippo, and SnapFiles. Although I use some of their RSS feeds, I usually choose the direct download link from author's site.

Here's an interesting Emsisoft blog that discusses PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) download sites :
Mind the PUP: Top download portals to avoid
