Just to put it out there, on the Glary Utilities Giveaway page (just Google Glary Utilities- you'll see it on the page), Glary is giving away the systems utility Advanced System Optimizer- a $40US value supposedly. I hated the program, but for those of you wanting a ( 200MB!) systems utility I suppose it's a good deal. Today only.
I didn't direct link since I didn't know if that's verboten. Good Luck, Kyuzo |

If you are posting something, please provide a link.
Here is the link for the giveaway : http://giveaway.glarysoft.com/advanc...optimizer3-99/ This is one of those giveaways similar to the GOTD, in which the software has to be installed and activated in the promotional period itself, atleast that is what it seems from the comments. There is not much information on that page regarding the giveaway details. Anyways, such offers like GOTD are just crap, and therefore, we do not support posting of such offers. The thread will be deleted after the offer period is over, in case anyone does want to avail of it.

Thanks for that (though I am not interested).
I will post the link to the page and I will point out that they will be giving away a different product per day for today and the next 5 days (listed on page). http://giveaway.glarysoft.com/advanc...optimizer3-99/ Must be downloaded and activated during giveaway day. Read me text in download (zipped) has license code. Conditions: 1) No free technical support 2) No free upgrades to future versions 3) Strictly non-commercial usage Looks very much like a Giveaway of the Day package as far as the read me. Edit: Oops Anupam beat me to it. I agree with you Anupam on GOTD. I only posted because there are 5 offers. No problem on deleting my entry if you wish. |

No problem there. Thanks for posting the extra details
. The thread will be deleted after the giveaway time anyways. I would advise everyone not to post such offers on the forum, which require software to be activated the same day, unless it's a really great piece of software.

I tried it and kept telling me it's exceeded the number of machines for that code.
Could be either exceeded the number of licences their willing to release or a scam to draw attention to their paid section. Either way, I've un-installed for good.

I didn't provide a direct link since ASO isn't technically freeware. I suppose either way (posting or not), I'd have been wrong. I figured I'd violate TSA etiquette one way or the other, so violate the safer way...
I'm not sure why it's "crap". ASO is considered a powerful systems utility if you like that kind of thing. It's only rival is Iolo System Mechanic and perhaps WinZip's new utility. I was taken aback by the large size of the program and the fact that it basically commandeers the computer. Also, if you do download, watch that Driver Updater. It's not exactly accurate! Given it's high price I figured it was a "hot find". Perhaps I was incorrect. It's not a scam. I downloaded 4 instances on 4 different machines since early this morning and activated them without a hiccup. I've since uninstalled them after trying the first. It may be that they've exceeded the licenses, but I'd suspect that- given the rep of ASO- you may have hit a glitch with the activation perhaps due to volume. Over the day several posters at Glary had similar problems. In my experience Glary is doing a much more desirable method of giveaway than the new GAOTD method. GAOTD is wrapping their giveaways in Thermida, which prevents AV's from scanning the contents of the file. My Norton refuses to allow the install since malware writers often wrap their dreck in Thermida to get it by AVs. On the GAOTD site, many people using BitDefender, Norton and AVG initially ran into problems. You have to either disable the AV or get your AV supplier to whitelist the GAOTD wrapper. Glary is having the install call back to Glary upon activation of the install. If the date matches the giveaway time period, you get the install. Otherwise, no sale. As far as I could tell, the only thing in it for Glary was an optional link to the Glary giveaway page. Last edited by Kyuzo; 23. Jan 2013 at 11:07 PM. |

Well, if you decided to post something, then you should go ahead and post it all the way, because even without a link, if a post is an objectionable one, it will remain an objectionable one. So, it's better to just go ahead fully, or not post at all.
I would like to point out about the giveaway that this product is not from Glarysoft itself, it's from some other company. So will be the other products that will be featured in the giveaway in the coming days. They are not from Glarysoft itself. A high priced product does not always mean that it will be a good product. The product should be useful, helpful, reliable, etc. We also see the other aspects of the offer. Even if it's better in terms of being detected by antivirus, that's not a very positive point to consider. The offer still remains like the ones posted on GOTD, which have to be activated the same day. That's a crap condition to put. And I personally do not like these all-in-one software, and do not recommend it to others too. Rather than have such a software, I will recommend to go for individual software that do each work separately, and many excellent freeware are there, which can do that.
