Default Quickest way to make partition image?

OS Windows XP Pro

I just used Macrium Reflect to "smart image" with NO compression my boot partition. I had my security software turned off. It took 1 hr 41 minutes with the image size of 18.6 Gb.

Is there a faster way? If there is a faster imaging software/method I'd like to give it a try.

Thanks,

Sorry to tell you but, generally all partition software is slow, considering amount of data it should move. (unless it's an empty HDD) A little tip: if you can make a backup of your data, in another friends' computer or another HDD, then you can boot with XP install CD and delete both partitions and create a new one with desired size... it's not what you could wish but, it saves time, if it's importante for you

Thanks for the tip.

I have just thought that perhaps one of the reasons for taking so long was that I have 14 System Restore points. I don't know how much space they take up but I have the slider set to MAX. That permits the total possible space to be used to be up to 5940 Mb. If delete most or all of those restore points I suspect creating a backup image of the partition will take much less time. I'll give it it try tomorrow.
