A pdf printer with both a standalone and a server installer

Our rating:

Pros & Cons:

Standalone install and a server install, digital signing and encryption, smart file naming
All versions bundled with OpenCandy installer. Limited watermark abilities

Our Review:

PDFCreator in its latest version is a strong choice and has all the features of Bullzip with the exception of a 64 bit version and more limited watermark abilities. The help files are available only in English and German. However, it does have one unique feature among these products: it comes with both a standalone and a server installer; in a company setting this gives you the ability to install the printer driver on a server and make it available to all the workstations on the network without doing an install on each one of them. This may make it a preferred choice in business situations if you don't need the other options that products like Bullzip offer. The installer file size is 32,1 MB.

 PDFCreator key features include:

  • Password protect and apply up to 128 bit AES encryption support.
  • Option to auto-save  PDF documents with current settings without being prompted for information.
  • Send the created files by mail.
  • Add watermarks and stamps to the documents.
  • Customization possibilities after converting the files.
  • Combine multiple documents into one PDF.
  • Create documents in the following formats: Portable Document Format (PDF, PDF/A, PDF/X), PNG, JPEG, TIFF and TXT.
