YouTube, our Editors’ Choice, is the most popular video streaming service that allows you to upload and share videos that are 15 minutes long by default.
Some social media platforms, however, allow you to upload and share only 15 seconds of a video clip. This limit has never been a drawback as one of such platforms known as TikTok has been growing fast with millions of users and followers.
Last year, TikTok's parent company ByteDance reportedly acquired Musical.ly, a similar app featuring 15-second video clips, for as much as US$1 billion. After the acquisition, TikTok merged with Musical.ly.
And in the first quarter of 2018, it became one of the most downloaded apps, surpassing YouTube, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook on Apple's App Store according to Sensor Tower, a US-based research company.
Despite its limitation of 15 seconds for a video, TikTok can spend you hours of viewing, besides creating and sharing short videos with the app. Particularly appealing to the young generation, it has a huge collection of fun and entertaining content, packed with music, lip-synced songs, comedies and other media made with special effects.
