YouTube MP3 converterYouTube to MP3 Converter is a free (and ad-free) program that downloads videos from YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Dailymotion, Bandcamp, HypeMachine, Mix Cloud, VEVO and many others so you can listen to them offline. It's easy to use and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

If you enjoy music videos and want to listen to them offline this app makes it fast and easy. While there are online websites that convert YouTube and other videos to MP3's, the ads and pop ups often lead to questionable sites and the quality isn't that great. This program is ad-free, easy to use, produces better quality MP3's, runs on multiple platforms, and has a portable version. Among its features are the ability to save files in M4A, MP3, and OGG formats, choosing bit rate and quality, tag editing, drag and drop, clipboard support, a multilingual interface, iTunes playlist support, and supports downloading videos from numerous websites.

I usually check the licensing on any videos I want to download and I either purchase the music or delete it after downloading. While streaming videos is usually not an issue, downloading videos is a murky legal area. You can find out more here:

I've just started reviewing my favourite music and this was easy to set up and use(I'm not an expert tech). The results are just what I was hoping for to fill in the odd piece I was missing. Thanks!

I'm glad you like it. :)
That's one of the things I like about this program...the interface is easy to use.

Many thanks for this article Rhiannon. My original program (quite good) disappeared from Internet, si I switched to Free YouTube to MP3 converter.
Took approx. 15 minutes for 1 song and I kept getting "sign up for Premium very fast".messages.

Human Media is far faster .
Great work

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I ran in to the same issue with several programs, slow downloads.

4k Video Downloader (Freeware) does the job for me. Batch downloads, convert to mp3, mp4, include subtitles, etc.

Agreed. 4K Video Downloader does it all. I use it in both Windows and Linux.

Thanks, I'll check it out. :)

I use a FireFox plugin called ... drum roll.... YouTube mp3 Downloader, which shows up as a button on the Youtube page below the movie. Hit it, and you get a choice of 5 speed/quality/sizes. I use the 192K but probably smaller ones would work in the car or for low quality audio.

The complete 42 minutes of the New World symphony is 59 MB at 192K . I downloaded it before so I wasn't curious enough to do it again but give it a try and tell us what you got. It downloads as fast as any remote file (a few minutes I suppose). Don't know how they do it.

Nice that Media Human has a Linux package, but I don't need a separate app. But I will check out their other apps.

I ran across their apps when I was looking for an audio converter that could handle batch converting.
For some reason Windows Media Player randomly converts my MP3's to .wma files. No rhyme or reason  doesn't matter where they came from and I never know when it will happen. It even converts write protected tracks. It seems to be an issue for others, but I haven't found a reason or a fix as yet.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is it still possible to circumvent geo location restrictions so we can access all songs on Youtube? I know there was an article on here some time ago addressing that issue but things have probably changed since then.

You can use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or proxy.
9 Best Free Anonymous Web Proxy Servers

Do a search for geo location test to see if the method you choose is working. :)

I don't have a free VPN I would recommend at this point, and both free and paid VPN's have been in the news for leaking  user data lately. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I haven't had time to track down the ones that keep no record of your activity while logged in, but in any case they would be paid services.

I've experimented with several similar converters with various degrees of success. Some didn't provide a batch download feature and others would take forever to download something like Antonin Dvorak's 9th Symphony (which runs about 45 minutes depending on the orchestra performing).

The longest song I've downloaded was 9:52. The downloads are fast even on my slow internet connection.
