Typical Windows Problems – Tips and Tricks!

Introduction

If you have a PC, youve probably had your share of frustrating experiences with Windows. Most Windows users have encountered problems at some point. While some issues are more severe than others, a good few are relatively common. In this article, we will discuss some of the more typical Windows problems and how to resolve them. Down below, you will find the most common Windows problems listed with some tips and tricks!

Windows Update not Working

It can be very frustrating when Windows updates fail to work properly. There are a number of things that can cause this to happen, and it can be difficult to troubleshoot the issue. Here are a few things to try if you‘re having trouble with Windows updates:

  • First, make sure that your computer is set to connect to the internet. Windows updates require an internet connection in order to download and install new updates.
  • Next, try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. This is a builtin tool that can help identify and fix problems with Windows updates.
  • If the troubleshooter doesn‘t fix the problem, you can try resetting the Windows Update components. This will reset the files and settings that Windows Update uses, which may fix the problem.
  • Finally, if none of the above works, you may need to uninstall and then reinstall the Windows Update service. This is a more drastic measure, but it can sometimes fix updates that have become corrupt or broken.
  • If you‘re still having trouble with updates, you may need to contact Microsoft support for help.

Slow Boot Times

One of the most frustrating things about Windows is how long it can take to start up, especially when you‘re trying to get to work or get some important things done. But don’t despair, there are a few things you can do to try and speed up your Windows computer. Here are some tips listed below:

  • First, take a look at what‘s running on startup. Many programs and processes start up automatically when your computer turns on, and this can slow things down. To change what starts up automatically, open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc or by rightclicking the taskbar and selecting Task Manager.
  • Click the Startup tab, then look through the list of programs and processes that start automatically. If you don‘t need a program or process to start automatically, rightclick it and select Disable.
  • BUT BE CAREFUL: some programs and processes are required for Windows to start up properly, so only disable things that you‘re sure you don‘t need.
  • You can also try using a service like Startup Delayer, which allows you to choose which programs start up and when.

Do you have some programs you don’t use anymore? Then here’s what you should do:

  • Another thing you can do is uninstall programs that you don’t use anymore. These programs can take up valuable space on your hard drive and can also slow down your computer. To uninstall a program, open the Control Panel and select Uninstall a Program.
  • Find the program you want to uninstall, then click Uninstall. You may be asked to confirm the uninstallation, just click Yes.
  • If your computer is still slow after trying these tips, there may be a more serious problem, such as a virus or malware infection, which you’ll need to address.

File Explorer crashing

Windows File Explorer is one of the most important features of the Windows operating system. It allows users to access their files and folders, and perform various tasks such as copying, moving, and deleting files. However, sometimes Windows File Explorer can crash, which can be quite annoying. If you’re experiencing this issue, there are a few things you can do to try and fix it.

  • First, try restarting your computer. This is often all that’s needed to get Windows File Explorer working again.
  • If that doesn’t work, try opening the Task Manager and ending the Explorer.exe process. Then, you can restart the Explorer.exe process by going to File > New Task (Run…) and typing “explorer.exe” into the Run field.
  • If neither of those solutions works, you can try resetting Windows File Explorer to its default settings. To do this, open the Folder Options window (you can do this by going to File > Change folder and search options), click the View tab, and then click the “Reset Folders” button.
  • Hopefully, one of those solutions will fix the issue and get Windows File Explorer working again. If not, you may want to contact Microsoft for additional support.

Taskbar not working

If your taskbar is not working, it is likely that there is a problem with the Windows Explorer process. This process is responsible for displaying the taskbar, so if it is not working, the taskbar won’t work either. There are a few things you can do to fix this issue.

  • First, try restarting your computer. This will often fix issues with processes that have become frozen or unresponsive. If that does not work, try End Tasking Windows Explorer from the Task Manager.
  • To do this, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab and find Windows Explorer in the list. Right-click on it and select End Task.
  • Once you have ended the task, click on the File menu and select New Task. In the Create New Task window, type explorer.exe and click OK. This will launch a new instance of Windows Explorer and hopefully fix the issue with your taskbar.
  • If these solutions do not work, there may be a more serious problem with your system. You can try a System Restore to see if that fixes the issue. To do this, go to the Start menu and select All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Select a restore point from before you started having problems and follow the prompts to restore your system.

Blue Screen of Death

If you’ve ever seen a blue screen with an error message on it, you’ve experienced the “Blue Screen of Death” (BSoD). This is a serious error, and it can be caused by a variety of things. TheBlue Screen of Death (BSoD) is an error screen displayed on a Windows computer system after a fatal system error. The error message displayed by the BSoD provides information about the nature of the problem, including any system files that may have been corrupted or any hardware drivers that may have failed. In most cases, the BSoD will also include a list of any software programs that may have caused the problem. Most hardware and software problems that cause the BSoD can be fixed. However, in some cases, the damage may be permanent.

  • For example, if the BSoD is caused by a faulty hardware driver, it may be necessary to replace the hardware.
  • If the BSoD is caused by corrupt system files, it may be necessary to reinstall the operating system. In the most severe cases, the only solution may be to rebuild the entire computer from scratch.
  • Overheating is a common cause of the BSoD, especially on older computers. When the computer‘s processor (CPU) overheats, it can cause the computer to reboot unexpectedly or display the BSoD. In order to prevent the CPU from overheating, it is important to keep the computer‘s case clean and free of dust. Additionally, it is important to make sure that there is adequate airflow inside the case.

In short

While these are some of the most common problems people experience with Windows, they’re certainly not the only ones. If you’re having any other issues with your PC, there are likely solutions out there. There are a variety of ways to fix Windows issues. Depending on the issue, you may be able to use a builtin tool, or you may need to troubleshoot the problem yourself. And if none of that works, there is always Microsoft support.
