Nothing for over a year, does this thing still work, is it still being developped and does it work with Palemoon?

view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago George.J EagleGet is at v2.0.2.4 now. A lot of changes has happened since last year, and yes it gets continuously updated. It works well on Palemoon too. Just add your browser in the Monitoring section. view

If you get a chance, you might want to mention to them that "eaglegetprotable" doesn't sound very professional and so does "Are you preferred portable apps?".

Grrr i don't like a "portable" that requires installation and shuts down my PaleMoon without asking.

That's it, i removed the addon, that annoying blue download button hiding part of every videos i want to watch was the last straw.

view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago Anupam This is not a review article, therefore, the latest versions won't be updated. The date is written besides the version. You could have easily gone to the software home page to see whether there was a new version. view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago Anupam Editors just post about software on the site. They are not associated with the software. Why don't you mention the issues to EagleGet yourself? view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago George.J If you were using the installer version it would have given you 2 prompts that EagleGet is going to get shut down, and Running browsers is going to get terminated. This is done to integrate properly with the browsers. I haven't tried the portable version so have no idea about it. The portable versions of download manager only when once launched registers itself in the computer's system. At exit, it will unregister itself automatically. I don't think there's a truly stealth portable Download Manager out there. Even FDM requires installation. You can close the Download button over the video using the 'X' button on it's right, or you can remove it altogether by going to Configuration->Monitoring->Show Record Button on Multimedia Contents EagleGet has 2 other ways to download videos other than using the Download button that appears on videos. This is by using the Video Sniffer button on EagleGet, which uses the URL Sniffing technique to capture video downloads from browser, or By using Media Grabber, which uses the URL parsing method, and doesn't require you to play videos on your browser. view

view

For browser monitoring, the addon should be enough.
If it's not portable, no need to pretend it is.
Ok, i'll see what removing the record button does.

view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago George.J You're confused by the real meaning of a portable program. Programs created from PortableApps is in .paf.exe form that requires installation, but still remains portable. Does that mean they aren't portable either? If it writes settings to the registry or application folder, then it's not stealth portable, if it does not, then it makes it stealth portable. This portable version of the download manager, registers and unregisters itself automatically after usage. view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago George.J Since I'm reviewing the category of Download Managers, I make sure I register in every forum associated with any software I review, so that I can learn and get to know the program more. It's been a long time I've been to EagleGet forums, since I'm testing other download managers now, and hence in their corresponding forums. view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago Paxmilitaris

Programs created by PortableApps don't "install" they just unzip.

You are right about the difference between portable and stealth, i always expect portables to be stealth.

I tried using it after turning Record off and the blue button is still there, but only when the pointer hovers over the video, so that's ok.

view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago George.J Installation simply means making a program ready for execution. What I meant was, the files are decompressed while you go through the installation wizard. What makes an installed program portable is if it doesn't *leaves* file and settings on the host computer but can be ported to another. And not whether it *writes* files and settings. Even if it writes it can still be portable, but it wont have stealth. If it doesn't write then it makes stealth. You might need to restart your browser after you uncheck the option for Record button for it to work properly. view
This Download Manager could be the Next Big thing! 5 years 7 months ago Paxmilitaris

It created problems when i had "too" many opened Youtube tabs, so i just scrapped it all.

I don't really consider a program portable when you need administrator level to "install" it before you can use it. Is that what happens with non-stealth portables on windows 7?

Good article. You can also copy a file and move it without errors. Careful with several at once as it can move faster than it can copy and that WILL make errors :))
You can also start several copy operations and the progress windows stack up so you can see the progress of each

I don't particularly like the interface of online-convert.com that got recommended below but I will have to use it because:

Convertfile.com SEEMS to be afflicted by cooperation with advertisement site(s). It does not load in Firefox with Adblock Plus and Ghostery (all fully up-to-date on Win 7).

And if there is an alternative I don't give up FF for anything.

Virustotal.com doesn't find a problem with it:

If you don't say what the security software is then this is just another unsubstantiated report. There's a lot of bad security software out there and some of it is from well-known brands.

Having confirmed a false positive using the method indicated by Remah, you should then report this to the vendor. In the case of 360 this is a bit difficult as, to the best of my knowledge, their online and email submissions only provide for file analysis. They do have a forum but only for the Chinese language. There are often issues with installed security software that users need to research and indeed this ability is vital to the effective use of the product. IMO it is always better to use a product that provides support in your native language. You can also use these resources as a further check for site safety.

Thanks. No legal explanation of who your images can be shared with.
Your personal information, if you provide it ? It can be shared internationally:
"We may provide your personal information data that we have collected on our website to third party service providers to help us deliver and promote products, information, services, marketing, or other legitimate business functions"

For the record, there are a number of organisations skimming the internet for all face photos, in efforts to create facial recognition software. Other organisations are paying as third parties for access to people's photos. Facial recognition software is being used in airports and by law enforcement, as well as for government control of citizens. Its in your interest not to have your personal photos released to general circulation, although most people dont see any problem with this

view
This Free Online Tool Enlarges and Enhances Images Automatically 2 months 2 weeks ago MidnightCowboy It’s all pretty standard stuff and in reality also pretty meaningless since anyone feeling aggrieved by a perceived breach of their privacy would have to spend more than most folks earn in a year just to launch an action. It’s all made worse by companies who may operate from one jurisdiction but be registered somewhere else with their servers in a third location. Suffice to say anything you post or upload to the net can and most likely will be used by some third party if they can see a way to make money out of it. view
This Free Online Tool Enlarges and Enhances Images Automatically 2 months 2 weeks ago rhiannon

I take it as a given that my personal information is income to someone, somewhere. I'd guess personal information is more readily accessible and used for profit if you use a smartphone with apps.

A site like this, where you upload images but there's no personal information or account creation needed to use their service probably collects minimal data. Likely they collect the same data almost every site collects when you visit; IP address, browser type and version, operating system, etc.

For the record I uploaded a photo (of a flower). The result was similar to the original, so not much improvement occurred. This finding was similar to Rhiannon's included in the review above - both photos look very similar !

I had the same result with a few, I really had to look close to see a difference - but, it's an enlargement service and it does that well and it enhances a good percentage of images so I'm fine with it. A tool that enlarges images with no significant distortion works for me.

I successfully captured some fine print on suspected counterfeit KN95 Chinese mask that I was unable to do before trying the app. After uploading the original images saved from the website, they would no longer open in Windows Photo Viewer. (tried it twice, all 4 images corrupted) No biggie, worked just enough that it helped. Thanks for the Tech Treat.

I'm glad it went mostly ok, I'm not sure what's up with the images being corrupted. I uploaded several images from my phone camera and various images that have been on my system for years, uploaded images I grabbed from several different websites, enlarged and downloaded them with no issues. They opened in Photo Viewer and Ifanview. All in all probably 40-50 images.

Well loaded a small compressed PC image fast. Similar layout to PS. Have to read up on kb shortcuts. Needed to dig to find crop/lens correction and such less used things.
Basics are pretty much up front tho rotate is a few levels down. Main barf for me - made a couple simple changes to a .jpg file and it went from 176 kb size to 6,462 kn. Suppose could run that larger file through XnViewMP again but why. Saving as a PS file seems ok. For now sticking with PC programs. if doing any large amount of work. Guess could appeal to smartphone quickie on a few images at a time. Thanks for pointing to it.

Thanks for your observations. :)

You do have to drill down a bit to get to rotate - Edit > Transform > Rotate.
If you have a suggestion for a feature or a fix, the developer is very responsive and will often add features, fix bugs, and help with issues.
Photopea is the work of one developer living in Prague, he's been working on it for 5 years.
He must be doing something right, 1.5 million people from several countries used Photopea in October.

Cray4, Did you read the top comment, before you commented?

view
This Free Screen Recorder Works in Your Browser 9 months 1 week ago rhiannon

I've updated the article to include the error message appearing only in Firefox. As MC says, I assumed that the site cetificate wasn't renewed or there was another benign error since virustotal didn't flag it and no other browsers gave a warning of any kind. The site is safe as far as I have been able to determine. As always, use your own best judgement whether to proceed or not.
I'll add that Firefox has repeatedly flagged sites that I've been visiting for years, indicating they are so dangerous Firefox would not let me add an exception and proceed to the site. I had to use other browsers to visit the site (none of which displayed an error message and which virustotal rated as safe). If Firefox throws a security warning I automatically assume it's an error on Mozilla's end, though I visit the site using a few other browsers and virustotal to be sure.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It claims otherwise... but it also claims to be able to generate scripts that can be used for routine backups, and to be able to be run from the command line. Presumably you could combine those features with Task Scheduler to be able to schedule backups even if the inbuilt facilities don't work for you (although I imagine it would create Task Scheduler jobs anyway, why reinvent wheels...?)
