This didn't work for me. I downloaded and ran the file to disable the previews. Defender popped up saying the file might be dangerous. I told Defender to run it anyway. The screen blinked. I pointed at a taskbar stub and a preview popped up. I right clicked the downloaded file and this time ran it as an administrator. The screen blinked. I pointed at a taskbar stub and a preview popped up. I navigated to the key in RegEdit and saw that it had been added and set appropriately. Hmm.
I did a little research and discovered there's a setting in Windows 10 for disabling taskbar previews, called Enable Peek:
1. Right-click on This PC in File Explorer or go to Control Panel\System and Security\System
2. Select Advanced System Settings on the left
3. Click the Settings button in the Performance section
4. On the Visual Effects tab, uncheck Enable Peek
5. Click OK
6. Reboot.
I performed those steps and I still get a popup preview when I hover on a taskbar task. Maybe the steps above will work for others here, but not for me. Strange. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
Picky, picky. Really, Panzer?? Personally, I'm thrilled to have this. Having spent way too many hours searching for just the "right" bookmark manager for my needs (desires?), I now have a much richer group from which to choose. Thank you, Rhiannon!
Extending the UI hover time might work, the info is in the How-To Geek article. Unchecking Enable Peek is a good suggestion. Also right clicking the file and unblock the file is a good idea, I use WinAero to unblock downloaded files, and I also have the disable taskbar previews in WinAero checked and it made no difference.
I'm not surprised this isn't working for you, I have similar issues with Windows 10 often. Things I install disappear from the system, usually things that work in the Windows File Explorer context menu. Sage Thumbs disappears, Image Resizer disappears, and some other random programs disappear. All have to be reinstalled. I have more trouble with Windows 10 than any previous Windows operating system.
As an addendum, taskbar thumbnails have returned after I shut down the computer for a bit and then turned it back on. The registry entry that the batch file in the article creates has been removed.
What's interesting to me is that the registry key and enable peek settings, which are supposed to control the preview, don't. Apparently there's one flag to rule them all (like LOTR). It also interests me that the registry key setting works for you, indicating that your Windows 10 works differently from my Windows 10. I have a similar problem with my UEFI BIOS now. It says Secure Boot is enabled, but both Windows System Information and Belarc Advisor say Secure Boot is Off. As my father would say, "It's not a perfect world."
I would like to find the one flag the rules them all. The registry key disappeared, and I applied the batch file. It's there now but it's not working, even after some reboots. I'll keep looking. Something may turn up.
That is a huge list. Including some that no longer exist. I'm still looking for one I like HALF as well as XMarks ! Now if only they had a listing of popularity and rating.
Shield is a single file bash script, and a folder of hardening scripts, made to be run to harden and secure your Debian or Debian based OS:

It's a big list, and a ton of work went into it. I'd like to see which are free and the ones that are paid, but totally understand why there's minimal descriptions.
I make mistakes in more than one area (rolls eyes). I'm glad when someone points it out and happy to make corrections.
I take no offense if someone points out something that needs to be corrected.
I changed the title because it's viewed by many people, if there's something off others will see it as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rhiannon-thank you for your very helpful "finds". I somehow missed your original review on CopyChar, but I followed your link in this article and again, found something that I'll use every day. It's such fun to see what you'll come up with next!
Thank you!!!
Gizmo's is the best web-site on the Net of its kind...always complete information and while I like Symbology I find that CopyChar compliments it extremely well, which I found in your commentary just above! Will use both! Thank you rhiannon!!
I have been listening around 15 years. Great eclectic selection by a terrific DJ. Leans a little towards world music, but covers the waterfront from rock to jazz to roots to the occasional classical cut. The DJ came from KPIG in San Francisco, a legendary FM station.
I like the station, didn't know he was a DJ, I don't think that was mentioned anywhere on the site or the About area. Makes sense though, there's some skill there.
I agree. I prefer the way Pixabay handles them, grouped at the top or along the bottom of an image page. I like seeing all the paid results together and they are often related to what I'm looking for, that's a plus.
I wouldn't mind them being in the results as much if there were a few rows of images then a row of paid images then more rows of results.
I find that trying to filter out the paid from and free is distracting. Hard to focus on what you're seeing if there are visual stop signs every handful of images. Others may have no problem with the layout. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have been using Comodo Program Manager for years. It automatically monitors installs and also gives you a option to backup the program you are uninstalling if it has monitored the install. I lets you choose additional leftovers after the uninstall is complete. I always chouse all and have never had a problem,
Hi, talen, sure it does. But in this review only uninstallers that have the feature of cleaning leftover files after uninstallation will be included. Otherwise uninstalling from Windows programs and features would suffice.
This is just a workspace, not the actual review, so will be updating the actual review later on.
Indeed looks useful having all this in one place. But have you tested any of the conversions ? For instance PDF to Word can produce strange results in some hands.
I don't think it's browser specific, but I do think there's something in the coding in some browsers that prevents it from functioning. I just tested it in Waterfox current and classic and Iridium and it doesn't work. I don't have Opera installed. It works in Vivaldi, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Chrome.
I tested some image and some text conversions. I converted a 16 page PDF file to DOCX with no issues. I agree that PDF to Word conversions aren't usually handled well.
File Converter (https://file-converter.org/) may have fewer converting options (there are quite a few though), but doesn't need an Internet connection, doesn't have file size limits, and is comfortably available from the right-click menu. As a long time satisfied user, I definitely endorse this program.

Gmail lets you forward emails to another email address. You set that up in settings. The thing to keep in mind when you reply to a forwarded address, you are sending from that forwarded address and will reveal your email address. If I want to reply to a forwarded email, I go into that Gmail account that was forwarded and reply from there.
I'm slightly confused by how this actually works, despite having tested it out. If someone sends me unwanted mail to my real email address, how does this block it? How will I know what has been sent?
It doesn't block email to your real address, it provides an anonymous email address that you can share with anyone, send from, and reply from. To work, you have to send something using the Mailmask email/alias you created when you signed up. You can add as many email addresses as you like.
If you are looking to get a free video editor I found a website where you can download totally for free the movie maker editor! Take a look! moviemakerdownload.it

I use a program called Taskbar Tweaker that allows you to toggle this feature on and off. It's free.

Nice one, a new desktop, a reminder of how important Volcano Insurance is !
Great site too, bookmarked :)
I'm happy you like it and the site. :)
The site is new to me, I like it.
Awesome find! Thank you

This is a great find. Thanks Rhiannon.
Absolutely agree! Excellent find, Rhiannon! Thanks!!
Sir, any latest update will be posted to this article?
I'm happy you find it useful. :)
Nice find, so useful and so easy to get french uppercase characters with accents ... many thanks!

Brilliant find, thanks heaps, from Australia
Good to know, thanks. :)

WHAO! Seems a great find, thank you Ms. rhiannon and Mr. Panzer.
I'm glad you like it. :)
CCleaner includes an uninstaller. I have used it for many years and it works very well and is routinely updated.
Thanks. That really is minimalist. :)
Would be good if they could filter out the istock (shareware) shots.
I agree. I prefer the way Pixabay handles them, grouped at the top or along the bottom of an image page. I like seeing all the paid results together and they are often related to what I'm looking for, that's a plus.

Tested it, brilliant application. However it's more suited to power users, nevertheless it's the most advanced power uninstaller I've seen.
Do let me know if any links/games aren't working in this category or no longer freeware. It's been some time I've checked out these games.
The searching is a bit quirky too.
But thanks ... it is a worthwhile site
Hey guys just wanted to let you know this is the current link for the program. https://www.lego.com/en-us/ldd
They no longer release updates. So the version listed is the final one.
Indeed looks useful having all this in one place. But have you tested any of the conversions ? For instance PDF to Word can produce strange results in some hands.
Is this coverrter browser specific because I've tried to convert a few SWF files unsuccessfully using both Waterfox and Opera.

I hadn't run into search issues. I searched 4 different words, not an extensive search.
File Converter (https://file-converter.org/) may have fewer converting options (there are quite a few though), but doesn't need an Internet connection, doesn't have file size limits, and is comfortably available from the right-click menu.
