I will enter another vote for XYplorer (freeware). Loaded with features and I rarely use my image viewers anymore. XYplorer has image preview. If you left click and hold it shows full size image. Same with the thumbnail views. Left click and hold on thumbnail and it shows full size image. Single or dual pane. Easy copy, move, delete with built in file shredder. I've tried quite a few file managers, some terrible, some okay. If you work with a lot of images, XYplorer should be just what you're looking for.
I tried Sandboxie and the options and settings feel lik a maze. Too many settings where I'm not even sure what it's doing.
Toolwiz Timefreeze (freeware) is as simple as it gets. One click starts timefreeze and isolates all changes in a virtual sandbox. One click stops timefreeze and you have the option of keeping all the changes OR dropping all the changes (which automatically restarts your computer).
That's it.
I havn't used Timefreeze long enough to give it a 100% endorsement. But used it for a few days downloading files, deleting files, etc. ..Selecting both options to keep or discard changes and everything worked as advertised.
Warning: The installation seemed to go flawlessly until my desktop came up. I thought MSFT had converted me to the god-awful Windows 8 desktop - but it was far worse.
IE11 completely wiped out my user profile. It wasn't just a matter of going to the control panel and reinstating it, it was gone.
Per usual, I'd done a complete image backup beforehand, so it was merely a matter of a fifteen minute restore. I'm glad that some had no trouble, but use utmost caution. If you're not prepared, the loss of a profile is only slightly less bad than a computer that won't boot.
I've been using this program for quite a while, and often quite a few times a day. I remember that when I installed it, there was an unofficial patch or something that added more functionality, so I installed that too. I got all the information from The Portable Freeware Collection site.
What I discovered was, and still is, amazing - that 75 to 80 percent of programs don't need to be "installed" at all. I created a separate partition for these "portables" and my actual portables, and my Program Files directory has shrunk enormously.
What that means is you can do smaller backups of C-drive.
Equally important is that if you need to rollback Windows to an earlier date or reinstall it completely, all the programs in the new partition retain their settings and function, leaving only a very few programs that need to be reinstalled
And if you use FreeFileSync to back up Program Files and Roaming, not only will you have even fewer programs to reinstall, but you'll still have all your shortcuts in Quick Launch, Send To, and Startup working.
I preferred Palemoon until it strayed far afield and inportant addons stopped working, Adblock plus for example. The Palemoon version makes it extremely difficult to block portions of pages. Firefox has it's own faults, but I've been able to overcome them satisfactorily if not completely. not so with Palemoon. So I hold Cyberfox in reserve just in case, but the developers irritate me because updates are far more of a nuisance.
Can you believe I never thought of that? I just change the path in the .ini file to that of my Firefox profile, but I believe when you do a Cyberfox update, it changes it back (I haven't updated for a while).
I took your advice and set up IceDragon, and to my surprise it seems to run all FF addons, unlike Palemoon. However... you can't set it as the default browser if you use it in portable mode - - insane. Yes, I know I can set it to the default reader of each page type, but what a nuisance.
I can understand if the gentleman thought that supplying names of competitors would be impolite under the circumstances, but since there are basically only four viable programs in this category, it shouldn't be too much trouble to figure out which ones he was referring to. I've tried them all - extensively, and I much prefer one "backupper" above the rest because it's faster, the resulting files are smaller, scheduled backups are easy, and it has never failed me, unlike the other three.
I tried this some months ago. My main recollection is that if couldn't get it to be "frame accurate" and it was unnecessarily complicated, though I admit that my memory of it is vague. To me, the best free editor is Avidemux (preferred), or Freemake (fewer features but far simpler).
Tried Vivaldi last night and was impressed while setting it up, most importantly because it allowed tabs on the bottom. But then... I decided I wanted a decent speed dial, so I looked for one to rival the one I use in FIrefox, and it doesn't exist, though I did find a couple that seemed moderately useful. HOWEVER, you don't appear to be able to get rid of the one that's built into the browser, and it seems both simplistic and incredibly annoying. Looking online, some people said they're "working on" being able to change it. WHAT?
I want to thank you for the tip. I was looking in "Startup," and your solution is in "Tabs." So now those people who claim that Vivaldi is working on the fix are all wet, and I almost gave up. Thanks again, all the best.
Let me elaborate a bit more as I'm quite experienced with many browsers. Pale Moon is as fast as they come, and maybe marginally the fastest. It handles just like Firefox, but it has one serious shortcoming - a lack of add-ons. Most Firefox add-ons won't work anymore, and Pale Moon's own selection is quite lacking, though I would say that in almost all incidences, there are substitutes of prior versions that used to run on Firefox but no longer do. However, if you need an Ebates button for example, you're out of luck
Not only is Pale Moon as fast as Slimjet (the fastest of the Chrome clones I've tried, it's superior to Vivaldi, Opera, and Slimjet in that it has one single entry in the list of running processes while the Chrome clones have many. That may not be a factor until you try to kill a browser that's hung up, but it could also possibly be a factor in why your other programs run slow.
That said, Pale Moon is still my second choice to Slimjet at least until add-on development appears to be more robust, because as it stands, and it might just be my imagination, Pale Moon gives the impression that it can't quite keep up, so I don't want to be dependent on something that might disappear.
You're absolutely right, on all counts. Pale Moon is much faster than Firefox, and in my experience, only Pale Moon and Slimjet have no hesitation when you click a (speed dial) link.
If you absolutely, positively need a close Firefox clone, Waterfox is the choice, but it still hesitates a bit when you click a link and thus "pales" in comparison to Pale Moon for speed.
Slimjet is better than Vivaldi for speed, though maybe not enough to matter to you, but feature for feature, to me, Slimjet has a superior feel. For example. Slimjet provides a bookmarks sidebar that auto-closes like Pale Moon's, and it's menu is qiickly accessible by a far right button. On the other hand, Vivaldi's mouse gestures may be more extensive. So it might be a toss-up, but why not try both and see for yourself? Btw, I use an extension called GroupSpeedDial as my substitute for both Browers' built in speed dial. it's far more configurable, and the best of the many I've tried. One quirk though is that in Slimjet, I haven't been able to get it to accept a background image so I use their solid color gradient.
EDIT: This discussion caused me to take another look -at Vivaldi. I hadn't used it since a recent upgrade, and I now find that it seems every bit the equal of Slimjet except for the aforementioned auto-closing sidebar.
Thanks for mentioning that, and I'd like to add that, after saying above I'd revisited Vivaldi and found it comparable to Slimjet, I've already abandoned it because Slimjet has a number of subtleties that Vivaldi lacks. I'd forgotten how annoying it is to have to open and close the sidebar manually in Vivaldi, And I couldn't get two extensions to work in Vivaldi. One is -any- form saver/filler I've tried, and another cures the incredibly annoying Chrome -flaw- that auto numbers downloads instead of overwriting them or even offering to do so. You can overwrite in Vivaldi, but it requires too much manual labor. Conversely, I haven't found any compelling feature in any other browser that would make me want to select that browser over Slimjet.
Thanks so much. Amazingly, I was using Firemin, but I never added it to extended processes and so I thought it was doing nothing. Just changed it as you instructed so I'm on pins and needles waiting to see the results. All the best.
One thing I forgot to mention that could be very important. Some sites see Pale Moon as a very old version of Firefox and so they won't give you access.
Thanks so much for the tip. I've activated "native" mode, but I don't really have the problem since I switched browsers. However, it would seem that Pale Moon's developers share the view you seemed to express that it is somebody else's responsibility, either the user or the site, to solve this and probably other problems, and in this particular case the question immediately arises: why is it in Firefox compatibility mode in the first place if it's actually not compatible on some sites and they know it? Though such sites may be few, for me, those sites were important ones like banking.
I just saw an update listed on Major Geeks for Basilisk that says, "Basilisk is a Firefox-like web browser from the Pale Moon team that is based on the Goanna (Gecko) layout and rendering engine," and it irritated me not only because you'd steered me onto the fact that Gecko is a compatibility option for Pale Moon and why is "the Pale Moon team" devoting time to another browser as Pale Moon wallows in obscurity despite being noticeably, significantly faster than Firefox and the developers offer a dearth of extensions on a page you can't even search while, relatively recently lot of Firefox extensions became inoperable necessitating the need to find alternatives and live with outdated ones that will never be updated? This Basilisk thing gives the impression that Pale Moon teeters while the developers consider at least the possibility of pursuing another direction. In any case, no one can argue that Pale Moon development seems vibrant.
I believe you've inadvertently made my point, and a late development make's Pale Moon's predicament even less tenable. I know far more about these sorts of things than the average person, and I'm not willing to go searching for a solution to an obscure problem unless I have no alternative. Furthermore, I have never had the problem in question with any other browser, and there are several that are very nearly as speedy as Pale Moon and all have features Pale Moon doesn't. So the only reason to use Pale Moon is for speed and/or because it may have a specific feature(s) that you like that cannot be acceptably replicated in other browsers. But since this problem has been unique to Pale Moon, it dwarfs any minor inconvenience I might encounter with another browser.
Also, and I repeat, the fact that Pale Moon is not compatible with some sites (that the vast majority are compatible is insufficient) and that developers know it, coupled with the fact that a site can report that I'm using a version of Firefox that's too old and the developers must know that and haven't rectified the problem (possibly as simply as upgrading the version number) feeds my contention that development is not as responsive as it should be.
Now the late development... I decided to use Pale Moon tonight using a different compatibility mode, and I immediately found that a site I visit everyday gave me a generic error message before even starting to load the page. Only when I used Firefox mode would the site load. So as a result of our discussion, not only has the problem with Pale Moon been validated, but the proposed solution rendered it less usable for me, and it points up the fact that there is no real solution available. The average user is not going to devote the sort of attention I have when there's a simple solution - use any other browser.
As I said or indicated on my comments about Pale Moon, Slimjet is THE best browser and it has few peers, and I'm familiar with more than a few browsers, and it's portability seems in keeping with my overall assessment... except that since I last commented, I discovered that portability is a bit of a misnomer - just last night I decided to use mt Slimjet setup on another machine, and the browser worked fine, but none of my extensions did. Worse, when I opened the extensions page none of the extensions were even listed.
So I copied the extensions again, opened the browser on the new computer, and... nothing! They copied because I saw them in explorer, but they were gone after I opened slimjet again, and I haven't been able to solve this problem. I've been backing up slimjet along with everything else, and I had the same result when I tried to run the backup copy - nothing but the browser itself worked. It appears I'll have to manually set up everything on my other computer. So from where I'm at, Slimjet is portable in that it doesn't require much setup or write to the registry, but it won't work properly when you try to use it elsewhere. If anyone has a solution, it would be most welcome.
I use an ad blocker, and so I'm not conscious of who uses ads and who doesn't. I disabled it for Gizmo just now, and upon refreshing the page there is no discernible difference. Nevertheless, I'm more than happy to allow ads here.
Unless you can change the black GUI into something that looks normal, I ain't interested. Who ever said, "Thank god the program's black so it's more functional?
MailStore Home had been a great tool for me for long. I recently replaced it with Mail Backup X for Automatic Backup option. no more manually hitting the archive button. the mails are getting archived itself.
I am still using CodeStuff Starter without problems, but the fact that it has not been updated since 2009 should be listed as a "con." I definitely want to check out the Glarysoft product suggested below.
For me, a true backup solution is one that fully satisfies your "File Location" criterion by letting me back up files and folders in place rather than forcing me to dump them into the backup application's dedicated virtual black hole. I am amazed at how many online articles on online backup fail even to mention this criterion. Online storage is not the same thing as online backup. When you get an editor for this category, perhaps he or she could take a look at Syncplicity (10GB free) and Memopal (3GB free).
I downloaded that file from the Konvertor website above without issue. I installed it. When I clicked on the Desktop shortcut, I got a Windows error, can't access. When I closed that message, the shortcut disappeared. Panda said nothing. I figured it was a Permissions thing. So I went to the program folder, and didn't see Konvertor.exe, as I guessed, but there was Kconvert.exe so I ran it. Same thing, no access, file disappeared, except Panda popped up and said "Virus", reboot. So I tried to uninstall, same thing. Panda has these three files in quarantine (I scrubbed the rest):
I thought it was the other way around, Panda quarantined them so Windows couldn't access them. Anyhow, I've never had this problem before, and I just installed and ran a few of the other file managers here without issue. Thanks for those reports. It looks like it's been a few months since those files were scanned. I don't know if these files are newer. Anyway, do with this information what you will, I just hope nobody gets burned! And I very much appreciate your help, and all the Gizmo's gang!
I have a computer with Windows XP on it and then I went and bought Windows 7 upgrade disc. The computer had a hiccup and I lost my network and internet. Wondering how I can get my Windows 7 back. I can re-install Windows XP but not Windows 7.
Thanks for this, it appears I am not affected, but agree with Joe--I have yet to really look at the first program bundle of Lenovo's. These bundles come with some "stuff" my Epson printer is one too

Sleipnir does seem worth trying! however upon trying it I was prompted to install a media player and it recommended VLC. All sounds well and good until it installed the player and tried to get me to accept about 5 changes to my computer search and browsers and I don't know what all. I refused all and it still screwed up my browser and search. Guess the relationship going forward is a bit too pricey for me and great text will have to wait until the price isn't too high.
I lost a lot of work and it left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Hi Rick, the data should be accurate, but if you see any discrepancies, please email me at hello@tenta.com with details and I'll investigate.
So although other sites may show some of this information, most are not mobile-friendly at all and outdated. We strived to make a responsive customizable web app designed for modern devices. For example, we're using service workers and smart caching so that results load faster.
Another unique test that this web tool offers is advanced DNS results. Your average DNS leak test site may show the IP, location and provider, but our API also delivers a more complete picture of your DNS privacy/security settings such as checking if DNS over TLS is working. Or if DNSSEC is enabled or "Checking Disabled" is true or false.
Hi Rob, Thanks for sharing our new web tool. Great to hear you're evaluating our browser as well. If you have any questions in the process, please don't hesitate to ask.
This article is Incorrect. Windows 8.1 has Refresh & Reset. Windows 10 has Fresh Start which keeps the users personal files and some settings and clean installs Windows 10. Windows 10 offers 2 (actually 3 but only going to cover 2 here) types of Reset (1. keep all personal files) and Reset (2. remove everything and reinstall Windows). System Restore does not restore your system to an earlier point - it merely reverses any settings changes, programs installed/uninstalled or registry changes made since the restore point used was created. Any documents, photos, or other personal files are not changed.
I recently dumped Avast after many years simply because of the annoying advertising pop-ups. After reading the recommendations by Chiron for Comodo, I installed it and have had it running for a few days now. No problems with it except for the deceiving tactics by Comodo during the install process.
Despite selecting "custom install" and unchecking the boxes that I didn't want, Comodo ignored that and installed everything.... I had to manually get rid of geek buddy and the Comodo browser.
How can this forum recommend software that continually breaks the rules ?
When I first installed Avast about 3 years ago, everything was good.... it was quite unobtrusive and yet quick to strike on any bad guys.
In the past year or so, with the regular updates from Avast, it seems to have become bloated and whilst I was still very happy with the protection it provided, it did become intrusive , the constant pop ups telling me that there were X amount of problems/issues with my PC seemed like a ploy offered by many shonky software programs that diagnose your PC, find many problems and then offer to fix them for a fee of course !
The Avast pop up invited me to click on a button to fix the issues with my PC and instantly I was greeted with a new message advising me that it would cost for the premium features to carry out this task.
Doesn't matter how many times I declined, the pop ups kept coming.
Bottom line ?..... yes, the pop ups did start to annoy me.
I know that Gizmos site does not endorse any paid-for commercial product and I believe that the free version of Avast is pushing the boundaries here with its constant nagging to upgrade to the premium version.
Meanwhile, I have Bitdefender free version running..... it's so unobtrusive and sometimes I wonder if it's doing anything but it has detected and quarantined 6 items since I installed it about a week ago. The only thing missing from it is email scanning but that doesn't bother me.
Not too sure if this is the right place to ask this question but here goes.
I recently downloaded the free version of "Malwarebytes Anti Exploit free" purely because of the good reputation of their free "Malwarebytes Anti Malware" which we are all familiar with.
This new offering, "Anti Exploit" is working as an add-on with my SRWare Iron (Chrome) and the only time I know that it's working is when I open my browser, a small window on the task bar tells me that it's operating.
Do any of you have experience with this ? .... and if so, can you tell me how it works ?
To me, it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all and I'm left wondering if it's smoke & mirrors.
Thanks Anupam,
I may try Avast again sometime in the future and give it another chance.
In the meantime, I'll give BitDefender a fair trial, assess the results and decide which one I want to go with.
We are indeed quite spoilt with so many quality freeware anti virus products out there.
I've been using the free version of XXClone for about 6 years now,... I'm amazed at how it makes a bootable working copy of my main drive onto a second hard drive. It saved my bacon a few times on the old XP computer and now that I've graduated to W7, I plan to use it again. The only difference between the "paid for" and the free version is that the freebie does not do incremental.
Not a big deal for me... as long as I have a mint condition of my OS, that,s all that matters.
I recently bought a Nexus 7.... I've never been crazy about the ipad and its dependence on itunes for any movies... also the ridicuously high price for an ipad here in Australia... $350 to $750 depending on the size.
Very happy so far with the Nexus 7 but I don't seem to be able to find "Adobe Flash Player" for it.
....apparently discontinued for the latest Android.
Do any of you have an alternative replacement for it ?
Just downloaded an archived version of Adobe Flash but after reading a little more on various forums, I've decided to hold back on installing until I can be sure that it wont stuff up Nexus 7.
I have the latest version of Android which I believe is KitKat.... too many comments advising against making Flash work with it.
The only other advice I've found is to use the Dolphin Browser but I'm reluctant to part with Chrome.
In the meantime, I'll do a little more homework on the subject.
I finally downloaded and installed the Dolphin browser and a "hacked-for- kitkat" version of Adobe Flash Player.
It's working like a charm on my Nexus 7 and I'm starting to actually like the "Dolphin" browser. Not as as slick as Chrome but I sure do like the easy access to bookmarks simply by swiping left to right !
Thanks Jojo.... some good stuff there although I didn't see much in the way of ad-blockers.
I just hate adds and pop ups. They're an invasion of my privacy and an insult to my intelligence.
This is my main stopper: "AdGuard AdBlocker" available on the play store
G'day talkback10,
Here's a nice selection of ten apps that should suit your needs.
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/12/featured-top-10-best-call-blocker-apps-android.html
.....or you can continue using your Moto E4 built in blocker simply by disabling your voicemail.
Can anyone tell me if there's a app available for missed call reminders for the windows 8 Nokia 520 phone. Not the written reminder that comes up on screen... a real audible reminder that beeps every 5 minutes or so until acknowledged.
I've been looking for weeks now with no success.... and no, my phone isn't rooted and I don't care to go that way whilst its only 6 months into the 2 year warranty.
Thanks rhiannon... your tips are always welcome & sometimes they vary in importance. Some are diamonds & some are pearls !
For some of the "experts" on this forum, this one may seem ho-hum but to someone like me, who is 70 years old and learning something new everyday... it's indeed welcome.
another variation of "Google" is "Google Scholar".
We all know that the latest versions of YouTube have changed so that when you pause a video, it also pauses the buffering which is a pain if you need it to buffer due to slow internet or simply a slow PC.
By using the above add-on, and unchecking the "dash" box in settings, it will enable the buffering to continue when the video is paused
Seasons greetings to you and all the good guys & gals that make up your team.
Whenever I need an honest opinion on any software, I always head straight to Tech Support Alert. I couldn't imagine life without this site.
Thanks v.laurie,
I've been having a tough time sorting and transferring many files, photos and docs for a while now. (Windows 7)
My fault entirely for being untidy with my PC "housekeeping"
This has made life so much easier for me.... and it's free !
I've already had one bad windows 10 upgrade that destroyed my internet LAN drivers. I've rolled back to Windows 7 and will stay there until W10 is made more reliable and friendly.
Thanks Rob !
another nice freebie to add to my defence tool kit.
I haven't installed it yet but will do so later on today.
Can you tell me if it has any significant effects on system resources ?
another case of "just what i needed !"
My son emailed me six videos of a walk-around-virtual tour of the interior of his new house. They are about 12 hours drive from here so we won't be able to get there any time soon to see their house.
.... anyways, the videos that he took using hi phone or ipad were all upside down so I've been turning my computer monitor upside down on the desk to view them. LOL
Yeah, I know that it could have been fixed easily but I'm a tad over the hill (LOL again)
Thanks rob,
I've been a dedicated SRWare Iron user for a few years now but I'm going to give slimjet a whirl just to see how it stacks up..... so far, so good.
Further to my post on 8th October, I've been trialing SlimJet for a few days. Not much difference to my default browser, SRWare Iron.
If anything, SlimJet is a bit slower loading some pages...... so it was worth a try but I'll stay with SRWare Iron.
Thanks rob
Thanks rob,
I've sometimes used disposable email addresses in the past and found that many of the online sites identified my email address as a fake and asked that I submit another one.
Will give this one a try.
I've tried several times to access this link to Planetarium but it seems to be stuck on their home page. Unresponsive to any of my attempts to proceed any further..... is it just me ?
Yes, I agree that Avast is a nice piece of free anti virus......... but, the constant pop-ups forced me to get rid of it last year.
I now use "360 security"...... it's free, it works well and definitely not intrusive, ie. no pop-ups and no adds. https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/
thanks rhiannon.... I meant no disrespect to you for this freebie.
Some folk may find it useful but I'm a bit too old and cynical to trust Google !
LOL

I wasn't able to make the portable version of Pale Moon my default browser.. Have you had success doing so?
No, it does not support Last Pass.
Thanks so much for the response and the tip.
Thanks so much. Amazingly, I was using Firemin, but I never added it to extended processes and so I thought it was doing nothing. Just changed it as you instructed so I'm on pins and needles waiting to see the results. All the best.
I like to suggest you try the same site in Pale Moon and Waterfox. I think you'll see what I mean.
Much obliged. I would have wrestled with this forever. Thanks so much.
It's faster. I have used DNS Jumper to find the fastest DNS service, and when I plugged in 1111, there was a small but noticeable improvement
Since I'm addicted to finding any incremental increase in speed, this is most welcome. All the best to you!
Much obliged. Thanks so much for taking the time.
DoxBox bills itself as a relaunch of FreeOTFE. Perhaps you could give DoxBox a try and add it to this article.

"Konvertor" contains viruses, according to Panda free AV, which even made me reboot my computer to clean them.
KonvertorFM.exe
Kconvert.exe
uninstall_konvertor.exe

“How to Harden Your Browser Against Malware and Privacy Concerns”,nice article
If you have any questions in the process, please don't hesitate to ask.
cheers - Jesse
ok thanks. I appreciate the followup
Thanks George and MC.... it's obvious that we don't live in a perfect world so I can cop the odd glitch from software that's free.
cheers
G'day Anupam,
When I first installed Avast about 3 years ago, everything was good.... it was quite unobtrusive and yet quick to strike on any bad guys.
To me, it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all and I'm left wondering if it's smoke & mirrors.
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploit/
Thanks Anupam,
I may try Avast again sometime in the future and give it another chance.
In the meantime, I'll give BitDefender a fair trial, assess the results and decide which one I want to go with.
We are indeed quite spoilt with so many quality freeware anti virus products out there.
cheers
Thanks Anupam !
Perhaps" Dr Web Anti-Virus Link Checker" could be reviewed by Gizmos site and included in this lot ?
I recently bought a Nexus 7.... I've never been crazy about the ipad and its dependence on itunes for any movies... also the ridicuously high price for an ipad here in Australia... $350 to $750 depending on the size.
Very happy so far with the Nexus 7 but I don't seem to be able to find "Adobe Flash Player" for it.
....apparently discontinued for the latest Android.
Do any of you have an alternative replacement for it ?
Thanks for your prompt advice Jojo.... I'll give it a go !
Thanks Jojo....
..... in the meantime I'll do some cherry picking from your latest list of android apps.
G'day talkback10,
Here's a nice selection of ten apps that should suit your needs.
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/12/featured-top-10-best-call-blocker-apps-android.html
.....or you can continue using your Moto E4 built in blocker simply by disabling your voicemail.
Thanks for your tip for "Blokada" Jojo....
will certainly give this one a trial.
cheers
Can anyone tell me if there's a app available for missed call reminders for the windows 8 Nokia 520 phone. Not the written reminder that comes up on screen... a real audible reminder that beeps every 5 minutes or so until acknowledged.
I've been looking for weeks now with no success.... and no, my phone isn't rooted and I don't care to go that way whilst its only 6 months into the 2 year warranty.
Thanks v.laurie... some really helpful explanations for an old dinosaur like me.
Thanks rob.... nice find !
cheers
Thanks rhiannon... your tips are always welcome & sometimes they vary in importance. Some are diamonds & some are pearls !
For some of the "experts" on this forum, this one may seem ho-hum but to someone like me, who is 70 years old and learning something new everyday... it's indeed welcome.
another variation of "Google" is "Google Scholar".
http://scholar.google.com.au/
Thanks rob..... I'm always on the lookout for something that makes youtube viewing a pleasure.
You've nailed it with this one !
another great little tool for YouTube is the add-on known as "YouTube Centre"
available here for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-center/gabnjlibfmlilpl...
We all know that the latest versions of YouTube have changed so that when you pause a video, it also pauses the buffering which is a pain if you need it to buffer due to slow internet or simply a slow PC.
By using the above add-on, and unchecking the "dash" box in settings, it will enable the buffering to continue when the video is paused
.... and yet XP is still the second most popular OS in the world ?
http://www.cooldezine.com/12-years-later-windows-xp-is-the-second-most-p...
Me ?... I'll stick with it till it dies.... if it aint broke, don't fix it !
Nice one rhiannon....thanks for sharing !
Good onya Gizmo !
Seasons greetings to you and all the good guys & gals that make up your team.
Whenever I need an honest opinion on any software, I always head straight to Tech Support Alert. I couldn't imagine life without this site.
Best wishes from Bundanoon, Australia.
Nice one rhiannon,
so easy to spend a few hours on this one.... some beautiful old black & white pics which I find magnificent.
Thanks v.laurie,
I've been having a tough time sorting and transferring many files, photos and docs for a while now. (Windows 7)
My fault entirely for being untidy with my PC "housekeeping"
This has made life so much easier for me.... and it's free !
Summing up ?
If it aint broke, don't fix it !
Thanks rob,
another case of "just what i needed !"
Your nice freebie did it so well !
Thanks rob,
I've been a dedicated SRWare Iron user for a few years now but I'm going to give slimjet a whirl just to see how it stacks up..... so far, so good.
Further to my post on 8th October, I've been trialing SlimJet for a few days. Not much difference to my default browser, SRWare Iron.
If anything, SlimJet is a bit slower loading some pages...... so it was worth a try but I'll stay with SRWare Iron.
Thanks rob
Nice one MC.... it's so good to get a freebie like this one with no strings attached !
Merry Christmas
Thanks rob,
I've sometimes used disposable email addresses in the past and found that many of the online sites identified my email address as a fake and asked that I submit another one.
Will give this one a try.
I've tried several times to access this link to Planetarium but it seems to be stuck on their home page. Unresponsive to any of my attempts to proceed any further..... is it just me ?
BTW, I'm using my nexus 7 tablet.
Thank you.... it's working now but it's nice to have an alternative as you suggested.
Thanks rhiannon,
I'm particularly interested in the free colouring pages but I find their site a bit "clunky".
Have to wade through a few links to find the freebie and then there's not a lot of choice.. should be easier or then, maybe it's just me ?
Nice find Rob !... thanks mate !
thanks rob,
hmm,.... 192 mb download !
I'll stick to quio 369 TS essentials.... absolutely free, no adds and it works well as noted on this site.
...... and it's a paltry 30 mb download.
...and a thank you from me too rob !
Have to agree with Peter...this is a nice little addition to my tool kit.
Hmmm.... a tool by Google to track Google to control Google tracking and privacy issues ?
it sounds a bit like the police investigating police !.... no thanks !
thanks rhiannon.... I meant no disrespect to you for this freebie.
Some folk may find it useful but I'm a bit too old and cynical to trust Google !
LOL
All I get is a black screen with nothing happening.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks MC.... I'll have another go at it.
all good now MidniteCowboy.....I just opened the link in IE which is a browser that I never use, and it's working fine.
Now I gotta figure out why it don't work in my default browser, SRWare Iron ?
Thanks rob and Rhiannon .....
another nice little toy to add to my collection !
Good one !..... thanks rob !
Good onya Ian..... well done as usual from you and the team.
cheers from Wally in Bundanoon, Australia
Nice find rob !
Something there for everyone..... thank you !
Does it shrink large 9.4 DVD size to fit on a 4.7 DVD ?
good onya rhiannon !
you've done it again with this weeks hot finds. In particular, the Privacy Tools.
