You are so welcome and I'm delighted you figured out the window being too large as the culprit.
I am appreciative you hung in there and provided screenshots and information so we could see what was going on and get it sorted.
It is a nice little program, lite on resources and easy to use. I have it pinned to the taskbar.

Thanks for all your help, rhiannon and rolandflorida. My problem was this: when the program was run, the editing window was so large that the bottom "taskbar" was below the bottom of my screen, so I couldn't see the tools that create the arrows! I didn't even know there was a toolbar there. So now I can see that the program works "as advertised"! Thank you for a great little program! --Frank D

Thank you so much for the screenshot. It looks like you aren't in the Editor section of the program.
Those arrows at the top of your screenshot are the forward and backward arrows, and you're right, they can't create the arrows you describe.

I took a screenshot of your screenshot. Along the bottom of the image are the function icons in the editing window. You can see the icons for creating arrows and and numbers and the drawing tools etc.
https://imgur.com/a/wgfyA5j
I can see why you would be frustrated, not seeing the right function icons to do what you want to do and I understand uninstalling it. I wanted you to see that the arrow and other image tools are part of the program and let you know that they are in the editing window.
To get to the editing section, after you create the screen shot, there's a menu at the top - the editing icon is a monitor with a pen. Clicking that will open the editing part of the program. I'm attaching an image of the Sniptool toolbar, the editor icon is the one that looks like a monitor with a pen inside.
Again, I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond and include a screenshot. Thank you. :)

I tried clicking on the two "right-angle" arrows, but that did not give me the ability to draw arrows on the screenshot I had made. I kept playing around with the program for about half an hour, but in no way was I able to produce an arrow of any kind. The only attraction for me to this program was the arrow feature, such as the one that "Fast Stone" has, and its small size. So I uninstalled it. By the way, I am using Windows 10, with no problems associated with it.

I do not see an arrow icon. Here is a screenshot of what I see:

The two "bent" arrows do nothing related to creating arrows on my screenshot.

I'm not sure what you mean by enable arrows.

To create arrows, I open the editor, click on the arrow icon (single or double), choose a color and set line width in the pop up box, then click and drag the mouse to make a line with an arrow point, and release the mouse button when the arrow is where I want it to end.

If it's a different arrow feature you're looking for, I'm not sure what it would be. This is the arrow feature I'm familiar with in these types of programs. If I'm missing something please let me know. I'll be happy to amend the article.

I wouldn't say the shutter speed was all THAT slow - look at the waves.

From the general appearance of the image, i'd say that's in Hawaii, and the lava there tends to be quite smooth and fluid.

Lava flows there form tubes, as the outer surface of the tube cools and the interior keeps flowing, leaving a hollow tube.

Thanks for reminder about  Firefox, I'm so used to seeing it that it didn't register.

I hadn't seen Windows-ISO-Downloader.
Rufus will download Windows versions but if I recall correctly (it's been a while since I used it) it doesn't access Office versions. Heidoc will download Windows and Office versions (https://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-download-windows-10-iso-dir...) but requires you to download their program to access Microsoft servers.
I avoid them due to their advertising policy. A new window with ads opens when you run the program after installation. It runs as long as the program is open - it will only close when the program closes.
I understand the need for revenue to keep the site afloat - but having a window you didn't open on pop up on your desktop, that you can't close, that runs ads as long as you are using the program makes using the program unpleasant.

I mentioned Cayman Islands because I could find pretty much nothing about this website except for where it was registered and CI is well-known as a notorious tax haven that is home to many thousands of bogus companies (because it is so easy to register a company there). So that just adds to the "sketchiness" of the site (I mean just look at the Donate page with russian text.)

I am glad you did your due diligence and checked hashes, but don't feel it is responsible to send readers to a site like this. If these ISOs are available on a MS page, or if there is a comprehensive set of links TO MS, THAT is where you should send folks to.

Disappointed here.

I would add that all the ISO's I've downloaded at this site originate here:
https://software-download.microsoft.com
(with the version information appended to the URL)
Microsoft "hid" the download servers some time ago, there's no way to link directly to them.

For anyone wondering how to find out where a file is being downloaded from, this is easily checked in Google Chrome during download - open the downloads section. Works for all downloads. :)

The site is an interface to Microsoft's servers. I checked the site before I posted it, as I do everything I write about. I've been using the site for quite a long time with no issues, the downloads have always checked out with hash utilities, and the Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 ISO's I use have all come from that site.

As always, everyone is free to make their own assessments (and I encourage you to do so) about downloads, websites and anything else that I post here.
We do not agree about the safety or legitimacy of this particular site safe and that's fine.

How to Use Disposable Email Addresses and Avoid Spam 1 week 5 days ago sbouniol

it might be worth updating this page as many services have surfaced which bring additional options.
in particular:
the option to create unique email aliases which are not temporary, allowing real subscriptions/accounts without exposing your private email...

1) gmail allows to simply create unique emails by adding a unique string after + on your own email address...
ie: myname+foo@gmail.com = myname@gmail.com , myname+bar@gmail.com = myname@gmail.com
note:a spammer can still calculate very simply your real email from this string but it is useful for sorting etc...

2) sites like manyme.com allow you to hide your real email address by proxying requests on your behalf.

I would not recommend WinPatrol for their firewall or any of their products.
I was one of the first people to have a lifetime license for WinPatrol and for many years extolled its virtues.

Unfortunately, the original developer became ill and sold the product rights.
The new owner seemed to be doing decent work for a while, but due to a series of events he stopped development of any of the WinPatrol products in 2017.

Unlikely that security programs that have not been updated in close to three years will provide any real protection.

There is also no support for any of these products.

Seems wrong to me that he is still selling a product that is neither supported or developed.

You're most welcome. If you're moving from Windows 7 to 10, the Start Menu might be more than you want to adjust to at thte moment. I was looking at some free Start Menu replacements but there are fewer than there were, and some, like Classic Shell, are no longer developed. I didn't add any to the article for that reason.
There are two Start Menu replacements I think work well but they are both commercial (paid) software. Both are under $5 USD but are still commercial software. My favorite is made by Stardock and I've used their Windows 8 and Windows 10 versions since they were released (Start8 and Start10). StartIsBack is another one that performs well and has quite a few options.
The Windows 10 default menu isn't bad but it does take some getting used to if you're migrating from Windows 7.
I work better with a Start Menu that's closer to Windows 7, and, at the moment don't have the patience to learn the Windows 10 Start Menu since Windows 10 itself is putting me through my paces. And, I use the keyboard for much of what the Start Menu does. Windows 10 latest issue is corrupting my user profile and that's been.....a learning experience. ¯\(º_o)/¯

Best Free Window Manager/Resizer/Arranger List 2 weeks 5 days ago jDally987

4 years later, this is a freakin amazing comment...... I don't use half those tools but I do use AHK for all kinds of stuff, in combination with AltDrag which is totally essential to my workflow now, I feel naked without it when working on other people's computers. (I am looking for ways to replace Altdrag entirely with just a single AHK script though)

One trick with Altdrag is I have a Logitech G602 mouse (with 6 buttons on the side) and I remapped one of them to Alt, so I can just hold that down and quickly move windows using mouse1, resize with mouse2, etc... all with 1 hand. It's made me incredibly lazy & I love it.

Another favorite of mine with autohotkey is remapping the IJKL keys to function as the arrow keys, whenever I'm holding down semicolon (;). Other people have used caps lock as well. This way you don't have to take your hands off the home row of the keyboard, STUPID useful when programming or navigating through text or code of any kind.

Funny you mentioned the portability aspect and having 2 scripts to automate running everything. I have a few .bat files synced to my cloud drive that I run very first thing upon setting up a new Windows machine, that 1. install Chocolatey package manager (also super useful), 2. install AHK and Altdrag using chocolatey, 3. create shortcuts to my main "master" AHK start-script in windows' Startup folder, so it always runs instantly whenever the PC starts. I swear this kind of setup should be included by default somehow with windows, embedded in the OS or something, especially for how long it took me to figure all of it out myself lol.

- If a backup is in progress, you can't reboot. This interrupts the shutdown after all the apps are closed, so you can't cancel the shutdown and continue. The only option is to force a hard reboot. The backup program should be capable of suspending the backup and resuming after the restart.
- The free version does not allow filters, so I can't tell it not to back up the 8GB Windows.iso file. This causes a LOT of unnecessary junk files to be backed up.

Excellent web service. Very nice that with one click, the jpeg image is created
No need to provide any personal details
Wish it was a stand alone application - that would get 5/5
Thanks for the find !

While looking for a pdf to word converter after PDF Shaper stopped RTF conversion, I tried a couple of links under "Other" here.

Free PDF to Word Converter link looks sketchy. A couple pages were blocked by uBlock Origin and then I was offered a download of something else.

Free PDF to Word Doc Converter is a valid link and download, but has not been updated since January, 2012, and did not work on my Windows 10 64bit system. It loaded fine, but when I pressed the button to convert nothing happened. May just be me IDK

I did find version 8.3 of PDF Shaper (released in May, 2018 and superseded in October, 2019) as the last free version to still convert to RTF. So I am going to stick with that as I have found it pretty reliable.
