The permission panel in Firefox looked normal to me. I've just finished a clean install of Firefox and I've been seeing a lot of permission panels reinstalling add-ons. </sigh>
I might try this, just to see if Netflix will let me access their site using it.
I have to deactivate my VPN on my desktop PC to access Netflix.
Originally i thought that it was just because the VPN was identifying me as coming from a country where Netflix is not available - it turns out that even if the VPN is saying i'm coming from my actual hometown in the US i can't connect to Netflix until i deactivate it.
One reason that i resisted digital for so long - bought my first DSLR in 2011, bought my first SLR in 1969 - was the simple fact that film {while limited in comparison to the human eye} had {and still has, really} a dynamic range and resolution greater than any but the most expensive digital gear out there.
I note that even some consumer-level DSLRs have reached the point where, in many cases. it is the lens, rather than the sensor, that limits performance.
It is important to use 2FA when possible. I'd suggest using Authy instead of Google Authenticator though. It allows synchronization with Authy on other devices, secured by a password. Most importantly, it makes it easy to setup the authenticator on a new device, no need to update all of the accounts where it is used. And yes, make sure that password is strong and protected.
There's still a good way to avoid annoying banners and at the same time comply with the law. Not applicable to all the services of course, but may be a good solution for visitors tracking and analytics for example: https://about.xroom.app/en/privacy
If you use Thunderbird, there is an add-on called Send Later that lets you schedule an unlimited number of emails. You might want to install the Send Later button which is separate, while you're at it
I'm glad you thought so, I tried to make it easy to follow. It's one of those things that's easy to do but takes a long time to explain. I'm happy to save images as jpgs again.
at rhiannon,
I am glad to see you made a .reg file to handle this. That's probably the safest and easiest way for the majority to fix this.
Just to be sure -
the last line has 4 quotation marks, beginning, end and surrounding the equal sign?
Even easier - Right click on taskbar, select toolbars / new toolbar. Navigate to the drive you want and click select folder. Drive is now available on right side of the taskbar. Even better - You can also create a folder anywhere on a drive, fill it with your favorite shortcuts, including drives/folders/apps, and select that folder for the new toolbar and you get a convenient access to all your favorites!
Please have a look at OCRvision. OCRvision is a PDF OCR software. It can convert scanned PDF in a folder to searchable PDF automatically. YOu can download the OCR software for free from www.ocrvision.com
That's easier, indeed. But it seems you cannot choose an icon for that (even the yellow folder icon is not there, just the name I gave) and, most importantly, the folder I created to the taskbar does not open with a regular left-click!
True there is no icon to use or change but left-clicking the right-facing chevrons (») on the right of your name opens the menu. I usually use a very short name for the first level menu (e.g. MyStuff) and then add sub-folders to insert shortcuts for other items into... Apps / Links / Folders etc. It's just "my way" to do it... not necessarily the best for everyone.
The latest updtae of WPS started messing with my Windows 10 system - I was unable to launch Windows Explorer from the taskbar, various right-clicks didn't work, I was also unable to launch Windows command prompt as an administrator. I realized that WPS was the problem only after I created a new Windows profile and transferred all my data (took me half a day) Then I installed WPS and boom, the problems started again. I was so mad.
Thanks for the recommendation. An awesome tag scanner, IMHO. Automatically hops to the next track when you press Ctrl-S to save, and just generally gets out of the way and lets you tag tracks quickly and smoothly. Bravo to the devs.

Why is it so important to block this update. From the post above, it sounds like a solid alternative to the presently existing Edge and other broswers, especially for those of us for whom the word "Google" leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
It's not important that Edge be blocked per se - I like it and use it and think it's coming along very well as an alternative to Chrome. I like that it uses Google extensions, and Microsoft has started the process of giving developers the ability to create extensions for Edge Chromium so it looks like they'll have some of their own from outside sources.
What's important is that people don't have a new browser installed without knowing about it, and depending on what browser is used, being caught out with a new browser they didn't know about and may not have wanted set as a default. Internet Explorer 11 is still available in Windows 10 (for now) and people still use it.
I know several people who've used Firefox for many years that upgraded to Windows 10 and had no idea Edge was a web browser. They didn't know what it was so they never used it. I don't think Microsoft will set the new version of Edge as the default after it's rolled out as a Windows 10 update, but I don't know that they won't. Windows 10 has changed defaults for other things on my system (and others systems) without warning, sooooo.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Microsoft has released early builds of Chromium Edge for Windows 7 and 8.1 so earlier Windows versions will run Edge, but it would be a voluntary download for earlier Windows versions. The previous version of Edge wouldn't run on Windows 7 or 8.1. This Chromium based build will - giving people on earlier operating systems an alternative to Google.
Yes, for Microsoft, Google, or any provider to change defaults when 'revision' software is provided is just plain wrong and can create hours of 'reconstruct' time at the worst. Thanks for getting back so quickly. ╰(*°▽°*)╯ Mike29322
I'm not sure why everyone else should avoid this because you install stuff you haven't checked first.
This add-on is part of their suite and also available separately for anyone who wants it.
Bit of a sweeping statement, that: "there are no free VPN services". Oh really?
Canadian VPN Windscribe, which has racked up some pretty good reviews over the years it has been in operation, provides a stripped-down free VPN service. I'm using it right now here in the UK. Choice of countries, even choice of servers in some xcities (I can pick from 3 in London) and 10GB a month allowance. Which isn't as good as unlimited, but then you're not paying anything for it. The premium service is good value compared to the large amounts of money being asked by other providers, and Windscribe is the only one -- or so I believe -- to have a special facility, Windflix, to get round Netflix locational problems. It'd be nice if people checked their facts before posting seemingly definitive statements about "no such thing as a free VPN". PS: I've used the annoyingly cutesy Tunnelbear before, but time after time its software created various problems on my PC and had to be uninstalled. PPS: you can actually get a much enlarged Windscribe allowance by browsing the 'Net for Windscribe promotions. Look for any where the voucher code word is COMPUTER, as that is a recurring Windscribe free offer.
** By complete coincidence, one of Windscribe's regular 'special offers' cropped up while I was penning this note. As a former subscriber (the subscription lapsed 3 months ago; I've been using the free service ever since) Windscribe offered a 'Christmas present' of 12 months' subscription for a mere 20 $USD. I'm in the UK, and according to PayPal's quoted exchanhge rate at the time of this offer, the £GBP cost was only £16.27p. I'm amending this post to make it clear that I'm now not on the free Windscribe service and to demonstrate that this company certainly offers excellent discount deals on a regular basis. Other than being a satisfied customer, I have no connection with it, but I do think it'd be worth incorporating in any extended TSA review of VPN services in future.
You're welcome. :)

There are probably are. The ones I've been finding and testing this last week weren't very good. Several of them wouldn't support a few of the more well known sites like bit.ly or ow.ly. I like the one you gave, the tracking is terrific.
I didn't know you were from Australia . Everyone in Canada that I know is wishing Australia well. That's correct. This is the complete content of my reg file:

"Extension"=".jpg"
I like reg files, once they are created they are so much easier to work with. I have a handful I use often.

Another +1 for Send Later for Thunderbird.

Foxit's GUI is WAY too cluttered. SumatraPDF's interface is clean and minimal so it stays out of the user's way.

Horrible choice for Nots. Evernote requires a sign on. It was over 40 MB , not 11. Bloated spyware !
