Celestial themed images always seem to work well as wallpapers. I think the scientifically inclined would probably use the term 'gibbous' rather than half moon however.
Gibbous is a lovely word.
I agree, scientifically inclined people likely would use the term gibbous. :-)
Personally, since Gizmo's Freeware has a substantive worldwide audience whose first language probably isn't English, I use the clearest and most common terminology to depict the substance of the post so it can be readily understood by as many of our readers as possible.
Based on information that Alexa analytics provides it appears that only site visitors in India would have a first language other than English and they only represent about 12% of the those that visit this site.
Nice collection. Wallpaper Abyss has superior quality above the other sites. HOWEVER, be advised it includes several inappropriate scenes, including the "F" word in at least one of them!
Yep, that's why I mentioned that I came across a wallpaper that contained an expletive in the description of Wallpaper Abyss. I didn't run into any NSFW (not safe for work) scenes but I viewed the first 20+ pages or so of images and saw the one with the expletive (which seems to part of waaaaay too many people's sentences these days for my preferences) in it, thus the warning. :)
One of the best Linux distros available is ALT Linux. They produce a range of desktop and server options including the Xfce based ‘Simply Linux’. This version now includes a range of Vlad wallpapers for free. MC – Site Manager. https://i.imgur.com/xbHaSII.png https://en.altlinux.org/Simply_Linux_9
I didn't know there were different kinds of lava in different parts of the world, that's really interesting.
It could be the shutter speed wasn't all that slow, and no way to know if that's an original image that hasn't been altered. The waves are clear, so... ¯\(º_o)/¯
It's almost impossible go wrong with wallpapers that show the power of nature. The main wallpaper tab at the site provided my screen resolution to 13 decimal points.....had to laugh at that.
Hmmm, sinister isn't what came to mind when I saw it but it sure could fit - but then, I'm the one who has been been jumping up and down in excitement when thunderstorms roll in since before I could talk. :) Glad you like it. :)
Bhodi Linux has quite a loyal following. At inception it used the E17 (Enlightenment) desktop but later releases of this introduced a lot of instability so the Bhodi developers decided to fork the last stable version of Enlightenment and so created the Moksha desktop used now. This is very different to your usual Gnome, Mate, KDE, Xfce etc., which makes it quite appealing. M.C - Site Manager. http://www.bodhilinux.com/2015/04/28/introducing-the-moksha-desktop/
Thanks MC. Images don't contain programs or apps as far as I know, and I've posted wallpapers from this site before with no reported issues. Always good to run questionable items through Virus Total.

Beautiful wallpaper. I found a source for free and very interesting pictures & photos for wallpaper.
It's"Deviantart.com." Have you ever checked it out?
I'm happy you like it. I love DeviantArt, I've been a member for twelve years. I've occasionally posted wallpaper from there. Sometimes an author will remove things or close down their account, and resolutions are hit or miss. The wallpaper tag and topic areas are a good place for wallpapers.
I'm not sure...........it looks like it could be a real photo to me, but I'm no expert, that's for sure. It could be a photo that's been enhanced with Photoshop, it could be something created in Photoshop or a similar program......I've also seen some amazing night time photos that are as good as that and haven't been re-touched. I think only the person who created it knows for sure. A local photographer (who recently moved, sadly) takes shots of the Milky Way around here that are absolutely breathtaking. Clear, dark skies and long exposure times are what work for him. :)
I appreciate nature and landscape photography as much as the next person but maybe it's time to explore other wallpaper categories. That particular website offers some very nice city nightscapes for example. Still can't figure out why they think it's necessary to provide screen resolutions to 13 decimal places though.
Feel free to post links to wallpapers you like here in the comments, myself and others who enjoy a wide range of wallpapers would be interested in seeing what you've turned up. :)

That "cold night" is impressive rhiannon!
Rather kewl as some would say. ;)
I'm glad you like it. :)
The photographer has some amazing shots on his site (link above).
Thanks!
You're welcome, I'm glad you like it.
Spotted this one of the solar system via a thread at DonationCoder forum:

Pretty spiffy!
Nice! I grabbed a few of those. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Appreciate yours too! ;)
Some more than others.
I'm not too fussy on abstract art, but there the occasional, exceptional ones.
Yep some more than others. :)
I try to choose ones that most people might like.
Some I like, others not so much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wonderful, rhiannon... thank you! :-)
You are so welcome. :)
Great Rhiannon but your desktop is better :}}
Glad you like it. :)
Hopefully between the two there's something people will like.
Nice, thank you.
You're welcome. :)
Thanks very nice as always
I'm glad you like them. :)
Thanks rhiannon :-) Love your desktop.
Lol you're welcome, my desktop changes often - it's not unusual for it to change a few times a week unless I find an image I'm really enjoying.
Pretty much the same here. But I meant it. There is something on that picture... interesting perspective
I agree. :)
I wouldn't say the shutter speed was all THAT slow - look at the waves.
From the general appearance of the image, i'd say that's in Hawaii, and the lava there tends to be quite smooth and fluid.
Lava flows there form tubes, as the outer surface of the tube cools and the interior keeps flowing, leaving a hollow tube.
I didn't know there were different kinds of lava in different parts of the world, that's really interesting.

Here's a touristy thing about a big lava tube in Hawaii: https://www.gohawaii.com/fr/islands/hawaii-big-island/regions/kau/nahuku-thurston-lava-tube
Thanks, that looks amazing, wish I was there. :)
Awesome rhiannon, thanks, yep, looks like Hawaii, :)
@Fairportfan,I was 'with' the lads and lady from the drummer auditions before L&L to Babbacombe Lee, I wonder if we know each other?

A little dark but nice!
Here is one I ran for a while this week. http://imgur.com/LCoNMa4
Another stunning wallpaper! Thanks for the post and my new background :)
OMG! Sinister, but beautiful! *applause*
Thank you, rhiannon! :-)
Love this one. Put it on my Bodhi Linux desktop. Thanks Rhiannon. :) MC - Site Manager.

Nice one rhiannon :)
I'm happy you like it. :)
Nice thanks rhiannon
You're very welcome.
Looks like a Dickensian version of Gizmo's website to me! ;-)
Now that you mention it.... :)
Wallpaper looks cool. Machinarium is also in my list of Best Modern PC Games at rank 41. :)
I love that game. :)
I like the photo Matterhorn Super Moon, but why did (commercial reference removed as per site rules) block the download due to a PUP?
Typical false positive from the program stated whereas their online scanner clears it. MC - Site Manager. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/ec86f70c6e158dab30f2c2e4afd1b6cb6c3c...

Thank you, I'm glad you like it.

:-)
Thank you, rhiannon! But... tell me: is it a paint, right?
There's something lurking on the left !!!
Great desktop, thanks :)
Your Olympic Range wallpaper is awesome too
I've been enjoying it. I've been checking in at the reddit earth p**n page, some nice stuff lately. :)
Most of your wallpapers are great but this is fantastic, my sort of colours too.
I'm happy you enjoy them. :)
That's amazing.

I just changed from another great Aurora shot at APOD..

Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is one of my favorite sites.
If you didn't say that is a composite image, probably I would never know, rhiannon! X-D
Great job by Dominic Kamp, very beautiful... thank you so much! :-)
*thumbsup* :-)
