Add This $15.99 Computer Book To Your Collection For Free 2 years 11 months ago classicggma65

Got to jump through a few hoops to get this...Have to fill out the form with your business info in it and All fields Must be filled in. Since I sign petitions, I'm used to fudging info so I don't get unwanted calls or mail from nonprofits. I used one of my alias email addresses-yes, it's working and current. Then, my address doesn't contain the north, south, etc direction or apt number when filled in. The zipcode of 99999 was accepted. I did have to put a valid phone number...hate having to do that as I have an unpublished number so used a very old number...yes, know it's not cool.

After filling in my "job" info, I was told to verify my email address then I could download the book. Had to sign in with my email to access "my library" but the book did download to my computer. This is more than I would ever do to get a free book...and not something worth the time having to put in so much personal info. Hopefully it will be worth it...looking forward to explanations that aren't so technical. Thanx...but won't do this again...

I don't think you ought to recommend this site for children. I clicked the link which took me to lobby and there was the F word all over the place. Some of it just cursing some of it about what some of the people wanted to do to two sisters... Childish yes, suitable for children no.

Same as ixan -- thought it might be fun and wanted to share with my grandchildren. Link went straight to keyboard and running down the sides were obscene comments. Glad I checked first! My grandchildren are 5 and 6.

Never encountered problems with Gizmo sites before this.

I started to enable this app, but balked when one of the agreements to the terms was letting it send emails 'on my behalf'. Not control that I am willing to relinquish.

I am with jtShea on this one. I could not figure out a way that a third party app would be able to track my email without way too much information about my email, and myself. No, thanks.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Aerosmith - Janie's Got A Gun

I give up …… It hears the music and displays the equalizer type bars but all it does is display "Waiting for the beat"

I want to share an external hard drive that contains my Vuze downloads between 2 Mac computers. I created the files on the external on one computer but the other computer Vuze copy can see the downloads even though I've input the right volumes. Is there a trick?

view
Additional Vuze Settings 7 years 2 months ago mr6n8 I assume you mean "the other computer Vuze copy" can't "see the downloads" I also assume the external is connected to the computer in question. Since you have already added the torrent to that Vuze, you can try the context menu entry for the torrent (a right-click in Windows - not sure in Mac) Advanced>Files>Move Data Files and choose the directory containing the content. If that does not work, then remove the torrent from that Vuze and see below. If it is completed, then you need to be in Mode of intermediate or advanced http://wiki.vuze.com/w/UG_Options#Mode_options Add the torrent to Vuze using File>Open>Torrent File (Ctrl+O) http://wiki.vuze.com/w/UG_Menus#File_Menu This presents you with an Add Torrent screen where you can choose the save directory. You will need to set the "Add Mode" to "Seeding" (Only visible in intermediate or advanced mode) http://wiki.vuze.com/w/Seed_an_existing_file If you choose the directory containing the content, Vuze should recognize it and adjust the %. There are some issues with Mac on resuming a partially completed torrent that might change this procedure a little even on a completed download. http://wiki.vuze.com/w/How_do_you_resume#Mac_OS_X BTW I am on the road and on a WiFi right now and may not be able to get back quickly if you have more Qs. Steve view
Additional Vuze Settings 7 years 2 months ago jcar

I'm still confused by all the options to choose from.

Usually on a Mac, you tell it where the directory is and it always remembers. In this case there are 3 different places where I can tell it where the Vuze/downloads directory on the external HD is, I delete the original Vuze/downloads directory from the user/library (created when I downloaded Vuze to the 2nd computer) and when I restart Vuze on the 2nd computer, it recreates the deleted directory and replaces all the parameters I changed back to the original directory location.

When I changed the directory location on computer 1 to the external HD, there was no problem. The downloaded movies appeared in the library.

No so with computer 2 using the same external HD...

I am troubled that the articles pro and against IP filtering are SEVEN YEARS OLD! I really would hope there would be something much more current on the subject. I personally use IP filters because, hey--how could it hurt NOT TO?
I also use an anonymous proxy (usually out of China or Russia) in my P2P client and I verify it with a torrent IP checker (IPmagnet).
I have never in six years of downloading torrents, received one of those letters from my ISP.

I've used CamScanner for years and it seems to work beautifully. Unlike Adobe Scan, it isn't tied to the Adobe Cloud, but although it shows you the result of your OCR scan, the ability to share the OCR results is a Premium (paid) feature.

All About the Windows 10 Upgrade App Including How to Get Rid of it 5 years 1 month ago vandamme

What happens when you upgrade to Windows 10? Will it wipe out your whole hard drive, or the Windows 7 or 8 partition with all your data, or just upgrade the operating system?

I have several PCs, all of which dual (or triple) boot Linux, along with (usually seldom used) Windows 7 . Would the upgrade wipe out my Linux partitions, along with my data? If that happened, it would take me an hour or two to reinstall Linux and my data, and get it back to the way I like it. And it sounds like the best action would be to keep 7 until it dies in 2020 (or the PC dies).

According to this article, KB3035583 was issued 3 times: http://www.infoworld.com/article/2922604/microsoft-windows/microsoft-re-re-re-issues-controversial-windows-10-advertising-patch-kb-3035583.html On my own W8.1 x64 system it was installed twice, and that is only because I reinstalled Windows in April. Another strange thing is I can't find KB3035583 when searching from Explorer. Is this happening to anyone else?

A typical upgrade has the option for a clean install or for retaining personal files. I do not personally know what happens to a dual boot system but this link says Windows 10 upgrade keeps the Linux partition but removes grub.

BTW check this link for some old Windows features that get removed when you upgrade.

I unknowingly installed some earlier Windows Updates to my Win7 pc preparing for Win10. they *** my PC display on Chrome in a variety of ways when I tried System Restore it had become disabled (I read elsewhere about a similar effect) does anyone know a workaround to restore SysRestore so I can dump this 10 Trash and restore my beautiful desktop to Win 7 ?

Is it true ?

Selecting Hide... in the customise notification area window only has effect until the computer is restarted, it reappears with "show icon and notifications" enabled after a shutdown/restart. Even selecting "only show notificatios" resets after a restart.

Even though I have reserved the upgrade the icon is still there and a message about it now shows in Control Panel/Windows Update instead of the normal "No Updates/Updates available" dialogue.

That's a really silly reason to run Linux. You can easily install VLC or PotPlayer to run DVDs, which most of the people running Windows do anyways.. they are much better than WMP.

I've never had a Windows upgrade forced on me before. I prefer the classic desktop. I know nothing about Windows 10 figuring I'd wait and see what others thought about it first before even considering upgrading. Is there a classic desktop option available in Windows 10 or must we learn how to use the computer all over again. Thank goodness for "Classic Shell" or I'd be lost.

All Your Christmas And New Year Party Music Sorted. For Free. 2 years 6 months ago Gil Mensch

As always, I appreciate Rob's finds. I checked out the website. A few odd things caught my eye.

First, lossless streaming through their web player on the PC platform is only supported on Chrome. That's not the only way you can listen, however. Second, when you click on the "Press" link in the Menu section, all of the articles are from 2015. It makes me wonder about the service a little bit.

A good thing: Supposedly you can import playlists from other services you might use, like Spotify, or from your own locally-stored music files.

If you are into this sort of thing, the service is probably worth checking out.

view
All Your Christmas And New Year Party Music Sorted. For Free. 2 years 6 months ago gizmo.richards I've been a paid subscriber to Tidal for nearly a year now and love it. I use it to stream uncompressed audio to my home-built hi-fi and the audio quality is wonderful and is essentially indistinguishable from playing direct from CD. By comparison, compressed streams from Spotify sound markedly inferior to CD. That's only when using a decent set of speakers and amps. Played through my computer speakers I can hear no difference between compressed and uncompressed music streams. So the moral is clear: if you can't hear a difference when playing through your speakers then there is no point paying for a high quality streaming music service. view

Recently found an email from Tidal re my inability to kogin to their andropid app: the email told me to login! I then attempted to reply to the email, but was told my support ticket was no longer valid. :-(

The app has now been, unsurprislingly, uninstalled from my phone whilst I listen to Simon & Garfunkel's, The Sound Of Silence. ;-)

Checked out the site literally as you suggested - Nigeria. The "information" about Nigeria was shallow, full of cliches and glib statements "...Nigeria is home to a substantial network of organized crime, active especially in drug trafficking..." - first entry. Compare with Wikipedia that starts out "...Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a federal constitutional republic comprising 36 states and its Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north...". There is more to Nigeria than some purported 'substantial network of organized crime', just there is more to the USA than its well-known network of organized crime.

It's a sure bet I won't be going there again, and yes, I am a Nigerian.
