This should be removed for now. I concur with the previous person. The website still says:

"The SSH Server does not currently support plain FTP, or FTPS (FTP over TLS/SSL).

We plan to support FTPS in a future version."

Unfortunately, Firefox basically banned it. Even trying to download from the author's GitHub doesn't allow it to install. Even after changing a setting in about:config which should have allowed it through.

At the time of the first review they were on version 4.9.3

Now they're on build 7.0.0.30103

I use it and the only issue I saw with it (may be fixed now they're on version build 7+) is that you had to create a bookmark before you could connect.

What I would like to see is for it to behave slightly more like the Windows filesystem in some respects. Maybe a shell API has to be created.

That said, The Useless Web is a cross between the ridiculous, to the funny, to the WTF...loved it. This is sand showed me what colors really do not work, but also enjoyed that. Should have thought to add to your list...I go to www.jigzone.com and www.thejigsawpuzzles.com for breaks as you can choose the puzzles, piece numbers and type of pieces you want to do. Can do 25 piece puzzles that take only a few minutes or more pieces that will take longer. These are good for me when I'm done with everything else and want to clear my mind from the day's problems. Also www.themahjong.com a tile matching game that moves quickly and you can do a many or as few as you like. All of these are great for kids too. Grandkids like them.

Hi rhiannon,

I already have 9.1 installed, thanks to an offer here, and it's excellent.

Just scanned the latest.exe and my AV came up with this =. "a variant of Win32/FusionCore.AM potentially unwanted"
Is that the one you mention as a false positive, or is it the other. ?
If it was some obscure AV flagging it I'd likely ignore.

Edit: Just scanned it with (commercial reference removed) and it comes up clean.

Thank you rhiannon, as always.

I have used programs from the Mini Tools series for quite some time but recently I tried AOMEI Partition Assistant and it does one thing Mini Tools does not: It clones drives like from an older HDD to a smaller SSD.

Aomei PA does that in the free version.

I haven't tested it but I believe MiniTool has a disk copy function, free depending on what  you're copying. Copying MBR to MBR is free, MBR to GBT isn't.

Manage Partitions With This Terrific Free Program 7 months 2 weeks ago Philo Vance

Agree with eikelein. The Minitools makes a lot of its features (like initialize a disk) available only if you upgrade to the paid version. The Aomei doesn't hold back any features like that.

view
Improve Gmail With These Chrome Extensions 7 months 2 weeks ago rhiannon Thanks for your comment. :) My understanding is that it was initially rolled out to G Suite users with Rapid Release domains on 11 February. The rollout to all end users started 22 February was scheduled to be available to all users 1-3 days later. Given the time frame from the end user rollout to my mentioning it here, I'm pretty sure that almost all individual Gmail accounts have had the context menu features enabled. They were available on my individual Gmail accounts right click menu before I wrote the article. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's a pretty common practice for Google, features meant for all accounts will be rolled out first to G Suite accounts and then propagated to all end users. view
Manage Partitions With This Terrific Free Program 7 months 2 weeks ago rhiannon

MiniTool restricts dynamic disk management to the paid version. Copying a disk image and restoring is in the free version for most formats except MBR to GPT.
The free version of Aoimei won't convert between primary partitions and logical partitions or convert from dynamic disk to basis disk. You also have to provide an email address to download the program, whereas MiniTool is a direct download. If that's a concern for anyone then it's an issue to consider. They don't seem to accept temporary email address domains as valid email addresses.
They are both good programs.

You can find comparisons of all free vs paid features for both programs at these links (both allow you to view only the differences between versions instead of the whole list:).

CM Security AppLock AntiVirus 7 months 1 week ago drbb01

The review of CM Security AppLock AntiVirus (last updated 25 May 2016) barely resembles the 2019 version I have. Not only has it added additional free features, it offers a VIP version for a monthly charge with even more features. Also, as mentioned in other comments, it is no longer ad-free. In fact, the free version immerses the user in highly obtrusive, occasionally alarming (e.g., "YOUR PHONE IS INFECTED! Click here.") and often political ads before AND after running any of its options. In any case, the current application bears little resemblance to the version reviewed almost three years ago. If you cannot conduct another full review, at least consider removing it as an Editors' Choice.

Unblock Copy and Paste in Chrome and Firefox 7 months 1 week ago johnvk

Thanks @rhiannon for the no-addon, about:config method.

I put "dom.event'" (no quotes) in the search box.

There's two I tried:

dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled
dom.event.contextmenu.enabled

I wasn't sure about the others.

For my financial site, this turned on right click but not copy.

If you're wondering like I was why you want to DISABLE these (when you're trying to get them working) it's because these enable the website code to see them. So hiding them from the website code leaves them for you to use. (I think.)

I gave up and used Windows "snipping tool" to capture an image of it, then capture2text, to OCR the image to text. That worked, but unfortunate I had to do it that way.

Good luck keeping control of your computer!

Unblock Copy and Paste in Chrome and Firefox 7 months 1 week ago rhiannon

Thanks! I thought on most sites it has something to do with security but wasn't sure what.

Some sites that have content that's not particularly related to security use it.

Most of the ones I've run into are people wanting to protect their content such as photos, artwork etc. from being copied. I respect that.
I don't copy that type of content but I do copy snippets of text if there's a tip or trick or something useful. I keep it with the URL where I found it.
Disabling right click for that purpose isn't much of a deterrent because there are so many ways around it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unblock Copy and Paste in Chrome and Firefox 7 months 1 week ago Jojo Yee

Exactly rhiannon. This Chrome extension "Allow Select And Copy" works for me in most cases. Failing which, I would activate the Developer tools and select an element in the webpage (shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-C), whatever text shown on the webpage can then be copied from within the inspector, either in Chrome or Firefox.

view
Unblock Copy and Paste in Chrome and Firefox 7 months 1 week ago johnvk

Thanks for all that.
I'm using firefox, so I am not sure if there's a similar addon. I haven't searched.
I always go into developer tools Inspect using right-click -> Q. And right click was disabled. That stymied me for a while.
Thanks for reminding me that I don't have to be stymied by right click! (in this case) because ctrl-shift-C does it (as does in firefox the Tools menu -> developer -> Inspect).

Now on this particular webpage, the data I wanted to copy was in a table.
And the table was circuitously designed. The first column was its own div. And each cell was a whole table nested within several div layers. And the 2nd and 3rd columns were another div, and each row of the 2nd two columns was a table of 1 row and 2 columns, and again each of these tables nested within several layers of divs.

So without finding each cell individually and copying its text, this was not going to help. It was a page of code containing 1 word of text.

I saved using firefox Inspector's right click menu: copy -> outer html to copy this structure and paste it into a file (temp.html) then opened that file with firefox.

The complex html code was using positioning, so that the first column and second column were superimposed in my temp file (which was missing the css positioning). Kind of a mess.

So I resorted to capture2text which has been working well for me on windows 10.

Again thanks for the interaction around this! It's helpful!

Learn How to Use the Windows Registry Editor (Regedit) in One Easy Lesson 6 months 3 weeks ago romario.rian

Throughout the years we've secured a lot of library hacks, and keeping in mind that a great many people can deal with the well-ordered guidelines for how to make a vault change, or double tap a .reg record to embed it into the vault, you will be vastly improved served to have a strong information of what the library is and how it functions. https://www.braindumps4it.com/braindumps-MS-101.html

The most imperative thing to think about the vault is that you likely shouldn't simply mess around and erase or change things for reasons unknown. Erasing a major segment of the library is never going to make your PC run quicker, and there's no vault hack that will accelerate your PC or give you some major new usefulness that doesn't exist.

Access All Google Services From A Button on Your Browser 6 months 3 weeks ago rhiannon

I'm not clear on what you mean "mine data from all type of Google sources". Could you be more specific about your concerns and what kind of data you see them mining?
I'm asking because I read the whole Privacy Policy before I wrote up the article and if I missed something I would like to know so I can amend the article.

There's a mention in this article that they do ask for permission for some services. I didn't check all the services because I don't use most of them, so if they are asking for permission to mine personal data or doing something else that violates personal privacy in another service I would very much like to know about it so I can warn people.

The add-on does ask for permissions so it can access some Google services - if it didn't have those permissions it wouldn't be able to function. As far as I can tell, it doesn't collect more data than is needed for the correct functioning of the website and extensions. If I'm in error, I would appreciate knowing about it.

Specifics can be found in the Privacy Policy.
You can find the Privacy Policy here:

You have to sacrifice a bit of browser speed with every add on addition so I have become very selective. "I don't care about cookies" was an excellent recommendation by Rhiannon some months ago but I think a quick click to the Google home page makes this one unnecessary.

I'm probably not as selective. I have a few add-ons that are staples, others come and go. At the moment I'm liking add-ons that get rid of overlays.
I consider the large overlays that pop up when you move the mouse and block much of the screen offensive (I don't mind small ones) and it's not always clear how to close it, which makes it more offensive.
Ctrl + W (close window) has become one of my most used keyboard shortcuts since they started proliferating.
If a large overlay pops up, I have to really want to view the page content to get rid of it and stay on the page, otherwise that window gets closed in heartbeat with the keyboard shortcut.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
