Could you point me to where you see that? I've looked at the home page and the page for the Firefox and Chrome add-ons and the page that appears after installation and I'm missing it.

I'm not sure how you could set the feature from the extension itself, it changes the user agent string automatically. You can do that manually and there are add-ons that make it easy. Uninstalling it changes the user agent string to the current browser and version
The extension can be enabled/disabled from the address bar icon, but I don't see a way to change the user agent anywhere.

The page after installation says:
"This extension works by telling Facebook that you are actually using an old browser, which its new redesign doesn't support.

BUT... there are some side-effects of that. Some features may not work perfectly, some might not be available at all (i.e. Video Chat), and there may be some visual quirks.

Unfortunately, I can't do much about those things. Facebook thinks you are using an old browser, so it disables some things that won't work in old browsers. That's just a trade-off."

According to this note on the extension’s own page this feature cannot be set from the extension itself unless I’ve missed something among the myriad of other settings?

“You are on the new Facebook design, and some of FBP's functionality may not yet work. If there is any functionality that is not working for you on the new Facebook design, please try switching to the old Facebook design, and see if that fixes your issue.”

Tame Twitter with This Add-on for Chrome and Firefox 2 days 21 hours ago rhiannon

Twitter can seem like a dumpster fire at times. I don't have a Twitter account but there are a handful of people I keep an eye on. I don't have the same experience as you've had with links with no reference though I don't like the bitly links they use to track and shorten URLs.

I keep in mind that at any given time, and more so when there large news events, that a significant percentage of Twitter accounts and tweets are from bots. You can purchase large amounts of bots rather inexpensively to gain followers, spread a message, or harass and target inividuals using  large groups of bots.

If I keep in mind that Twitter is full of accounts created by bots it's bearable.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If I were president of the world, I would ban twitter.
Most of the tweets (that I have seen) appear to deliberately avoid giving us any hint of what the tweet is about.
Thus everyone has to CLICK A LINK, just so that we can THEN see if it is a subject matter that we MIGHT be interested in.

Our site was the first one I checked. We have ad trackers and third party cookies that are consistent with our use of Google AdSense. Google AdSense is our only form of advertsing, it pays the site expenses.

Oddly enough in my checking some sites you would think have a bunch of trackers have one or two.

Bypass Link Shorteners With This Browser Add-on 5 days 17 hours ago rhiannon

From what I understand, the non-mainstream browsers have different APIs/coding.
It takes a lot of work to adapt an add-on to each browser and keep it updated.
To do something different or new in the add-on for each non-mainstream browser so the add-on/extension would work with all of them would be difficult and time consuming.
There's only one person developing this (and many other) add-ons. Most people who develop add-ons have their hands full keeping up with the browser upgrades and the ones I know of don't make money from their extensions and add-ons - they see a need and created something to fill it. Most of them have jobs so they can support themselves.

I don't see a fault or anything to blame anywhere.
I'm sure (in this case) that the developer would make changes so the add-on would work with all browsers if it could be done in a reasonable amount of time and with a reasonable amount of effort. It isn't just putting in a little more effort that would be required, it would be reworking the add-on for each browser.
Most developers want people to use their add-ons, that's why they make them.
I have an idea of what this developer goes through just keeping the add-on available at the Firefox Addons site. It's not easy and it's time consuming dealing with Mozilla and making sure the add-on conforms to standards and works with version upgrades.

I'm aware of a few developers who have tried to get their extensions to work with alternate browsers, specifically Brave. They can't make their extension work with Brave, period. It's not possible because of the way Brave is structured and how a particular extension works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There are web apps, sites and extensions that don't work in Brave - I use it as is, knowing that compatibility and usability are not front and center issues for them. They are developing what they envision the best browser to be. Their code won't allow some extensions to work because of how the extensions function, full stop. There's no blame to be laid, they are developing what they envision as the best browser. Most developers do the best they can to ensure compatibility across browsers.

I'm not calling out Brave, it's one of the non-mainstream browsers I use and am aware of a few people who tried to get their extension to work with Brave and discovered it's not possible.

view
Bypass Link Shorteners With This Browser Add-on 6 days 3 hours ago i8spombots

Love the idea but it seems to have been released too early - for non-mainstream browsers (which I use-eg Brave, Pale Moon and Opera) it either doesn't work or there are geeky workarounds which frankly I can't be bothered deciphering to find if they actually work, sad.
These browsers have millions of users so maybe "non-mainstream" is a stretch but the dev (who has a good looking, informative site) should have put a little more effort in. It's all very well to blame the people behind those other browsers for the incompatibility but the dev IS RELEASING THIS not those others.

Not exactly. Just like Privacy, Paypal is neither Bank or C/C Co.but Paypal is the one that issues the "Authorization Reversal Notification" to the Merchant if after 30 days from Authorization Date the funds have not been captured by the Merchant. Paypal at no time ever actually has hands on your money.
When I read Privacy's disclaimer about Merchants ability to exceed Customer's preset limits and Privacy could not stop them even though in some cases it was illegal, Privacy was not a Court of Law. I thought, so much for that false sense of security.
I read the (full) ToS but I think that was in the ToS and the FAQ section (along with the max limits of $2,000/$4,000) which is larger than it first looks due to each section expanding. That's where I found out that they are Legally bound (like Paypal) to wait the full 30 days regardless whether the Merchant cancelled or not.
I will go and find where I read the Merchant/card limit disclaimer.

I didn't find where merchants are allowed to exceed preset limits on a card created on Privacy, can you point me to that information?

Privacy is not a bank or a credit card company, it provides a virtual card number for transactions.
It doesn't hold any funds and transactions are between the merchant and your funding source.

If I remember correctly their TOS transaction limits are S1,000 per transaction and $3,000 a month but that can be changed by contacting them.

I was hoping that this card unlike Paypal and Debit Cards, if you authorize a Merchant (make a purchase) to claim funds from your balance, the Merchant has 30 days to claim said funds. The funds will be deducted from your available balance for the whole 30 days even if the Merchant informs you after 3 days that the purchase has been cancelled due to ongoing "lack of stock" problems or he doesn't like the color of your Moped. I've had it happen twice in the same month. For $253.43 NIJ Certified Ballistic Panels and $153.00 for computer parts, cancelled after 5 days. Both purchases 3 days apart. Agreement states must hold in Escrow for 30 Days. I don't know if Credit Cards act differently since Credit could be issued at any time, I'm guessing. These seem to be a bit safer than a normal card but Merchants can still exceed your preset limits and a few other things I was reading in their info. Looks like Merchants were well represented when these Laws were drawn up. Customer representation, not so much.
Sorry about going on and on and ... .

Many of the tools I've seen that do this type of thing don't have descriptions, or descriptions are minimal. Winaero Tweak has excellent descriptions and more screen shots and information on the site. I'm not an expert but off the top of my head I didn't see anything in Privatezilla that would break Windows 10 or interefere with functioning. Any changes are easily undone using the "Revert" feature.

I agree with setting a restore point (a backup is better) but you'd have to enable System Restore, it's disabled by default in Windows 10. People who have been using System Restore for years and counting on automatic restore points who don't know it's disabled are out of luck.

I would greatly appreciate it if people would do a little homework before posting something inaccurate about something I've written. Simply scrolling down their main page or checking their pricing page before making a comment here would have cleared up the issue.

As far as Notion goes, I signed up for a free personal account and tested the features before I wrote anything about the site.

I enjoy reading your announcements and frequently find gems of useful freeware. That being said, your headline tells us that Notion is "now free to use". When I went to the Notion website, I found the same freemium restrictions that the app has had for years. I would have appreciated an acknowledgement that, while Notion is a nice and useful app, nothing there is new.

Wouldn't it be easier to just let "nature take it's course", let Ms install it and then uninstall it yourself?

Googling "245 new cases" just gave me covid sites ... are there other words you used with it? Or a specific google URL? Thanks :)
