How to Get More Google Search Results per Page [1]

Google Search

If getting 10 search results back in Google Search is too small, here's how to increase the amount of results Google Search will return.

By default, all search terms you type into Google Search return 10 results. If you'd like to see more, you can change how many search results appear.

There are two ways to change the amount of results that Google Search returns. One is to change the number in the Google preferences page, the other is to add a search parameter to an individual URL.

Change Google preferences:

To change the settings in the Google preferences page, go to google.com and click on Settings, then Search Settings.

Change the slider bar under the Results per page to the amount of results you want to see, anywhere from 10 to 100. Note: if you're logged in to a Google account, the changes will persist over time. If you're not logged in to a Google account, they will persist until browser cookies are cleared.

If you're not logged in to a Google account and depending on what browser you're using, you may get a message notifying you that the traffic coming from your browser is unusual, and you'll have to complete a CAPTCHA to get to the next page. Or you may get a message that cookies aren't enabled in your browser, even if cookies are enabled. There is no way I can find to convince Google that cookies are indeed enabled; the only workaround that I know of is to log into a Google account.

Any changes in the amount of results returned are retained if your using normal Google Search or encrypted Google Search [3].

Add a parameter to the URL:

This is a pretty straightforward way to change the amount of search results, but it's not persistent over time or sessions.

Type in the search term you want to use. At the end of the URL, add this term, with no space: &num=X
Replace X with the number of search terms you want to see. It will look something like this, where X is replaced by 50, the amount of results to be returned:

Google search paramenter

Many times I don't find what I'm looking for in ten results unless it's a very common query. My preference is for 50 or 100 search results. Better yet, turn on the endless scroll in the settings in DuckDuckGo [4], the search engine I use day in and day out. If you're frustrated getting only 10 results or want to look for more results for a particular search term, these two tricks should make life a little easier. There have been some comments that increasing the amount of search results in a slower response. I haven't noticed it, but your mileage may vary.
