40 Maps That Will Help You Understand Our World [1]
This is another of my occasional pointers to stuff that's not purely about technology. It is, though, a web site, so hopefully you'll allow me this indulgence!
I was recently made aware of a fascinating collection of 40 maps which are designed to give you a unique angle on understanding the world. In the example below, for example, more people live in the circled area than in the places outside it. As for other maps in the collection, they show things like the most common surname in each country, whether a country drives on the right or left, countries where Google Street View or MacDonalds is available, the profession of the highest-earning person in each US state, and so on. It really is worth a look.

Oh, and the highest earners? Pretty much without exception, it's football coaches. See, I did tell you that it'll make you see the world in a different way.
