Came across this, and thought of suggesting here, since it looks good.
Redo Backup and Recovery : http://redobackup.org/ is based on Ubuntu, and it makes use of a live CD to boot the computer from, and provides options to backup and restore the PC. Besides this, there are other tools on the CD too, like data recovery, hard drive factory reset, etc. All in all, seems like a good tool to have. A review here : http://www.addictivetips.com/windows...ur-hard-drive/ tells more about it.

It looks like a nice package, I will try to take a closer look later, BUT, it offers significantly less capability than PartedMagic [if you haven't, check out the list of programs included with PM, quite impressive][and most LiveCD's have broad arrays of applications including Gpart], and the hype about 'bare metal restore' is a bit much, as any imager will do this, and all off-line imaging tools are OS independent as this one also hypes. And the on-line programs all have their bootable media, some more full-featured than others, most of those will do a sector-by-sector for OSs it doesn't natively read. A positive 'but', the more such systems the better, you never know when your most trusted tool will melt down on some configuration it wasn't quite meant for.

Agreed with you crank. Those are my thoughts that it offers nothing extraordinary that other backup or image programs do not provide. Still, its always good to know of the alternatives available, therefore, I shared it here. And as you say, it looks like a nice package.
Do share your thoughts on it, if you try it out sometime.. will be helpful.
