Hekasoft Backup & Restore is a MozBackup replacement

MozBackup was a great piece of software. It's purpose was to backup FireFox profiles. Unfortunately it's no longer being updated. I've recently found that a free program called "Hekasoft Backup & Restore" is a suitable alternative. As well as being able to backup and restore FireFox profiles it can perform the same function for many other browsers, even ones that perhaps few people have even heard of.

I did try FEBE for a while but I felt yet another browser add-on was just too much. I note that FEBE is "Not compatible with Firefox Quantum".

As stated, "Hekasoft Backup & Restore" is free, doesn't contain open candy etc., and a scan on VirusTotal found it to be clean. The developer is actively working on the software and also has a few other free programs that some might find useful.

The software is available in portable or installer versions and works with most versions of Windows OS.

Hope this helps anyone looking for a standalone replacement for MozBackup.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The software seems to be good in the sense that it covers a lot of browsers. The list is quite long.

But, I used it, and I tried to backup for Firefox. I did not see any setting, or window, where it would tell what all things will be backed up, and whether I wanted to exclude any stuff.

I guess I am used to FEBE, which backed up everything differently, and in usable format... means I could restore bookmarks, and add-ons, even with FEBE.

I don't like the idea of a full backup, and that too in a format where I cannot see anything, or choose anything, or restore anything selectively.

Nevertheless, I think this software will be appreciated by people who were looking for such a backup program for browsers.

If someone uses it, feedback will be appreciated.

Well I use Slimjet and have had a lot of problems with it lately (now resolved) so I have downloaded it and done a backup. It only took a couple of minutes which is good. As you say, there is no indication of exactly what is backed up so, all I can say is, if I have a problem I will restore the backup and post how it goes.

Yup, after so much time, Mozilla still can't produce a decent FEBE alternative.

At least if we could export a list of extensions.

Always like to keep tabs on those in case of syncing hics.

I mean, on fresh install, Mozilla can't seem to sync all Firefox passwords properly.
