Post Microsoft is patching 19-year-old Windows bug

Quote:

The IBM X-Force Research team has identified a significant data manipulation vulnerability (CVE-2014-6332) with a CVSS score of 9.3 in every version of Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 onward.

We reported this issue with a working proof-of-concept exploit back in May 2014, and today, Microsoft is patching it.

the buggy code is at least 19 years old and has been remotely exploitable for the past 18 years.
I am wondering, if Microsoft is going to release patches for so called retired windows or not, especially for XP as it is still very popular? There are still a lot of people using those vulnerable products.
