Default Sandboxie and Thunderbird

Hi folks, my parents use Thunderbird and want to know how to use Sandboxie with it. I installed Sandboxie on their computer but am a little confused how to set it up correctly.

Any info would be highly appreciated.

I tried to find where bo.elam had posted easy instructions for setting up Sandboxie. I didn't find it but I did find this forum thread which discusses Sandboxie and Thunderbird. It might help.

Sorry, I don't have time to respond more fully.

Anupam has written an excellent quick guide to Sandboxie and it can be found here:

Herby, it is easy to setup Thunderbird to run sandboxed, navigate to:

Sandbox settings>Applications>EMail Reader and tick the option for Thunderbird.

By ticking that option, mails that your parents send and receive while running sandboxed will be saved out of the sandbox. This works if Thunderbird is installed where the program installs by default.

After Thunderbird is setup, your parents can run Thunderbird sandboxed by right clicking on the Thunderbird icon and choosing to run it sandboxed. Make sure the sandbox is set to delete on closing.

An easier way of running TB sandboxed is done by creating a sandboxed shortcut for TB. After you create it, you can leave it on the desktop (that's where SBIE places it) or move it to the task bar. To create the shortcut:

Navigate to Sandboxie control>Configure>Windows Shell Integration, click Add Shortcut Icons, choose the sandbox, and select Thunderbird from one of the menus.
