Try to go to Settings > Labs, then enable Preview...

Try to go to Settings > Labs, then enable Preview Pane and Save changes, the split view button should then be up.

Do you see this at the top right corner? If not, it probably isn't a new look. The button in the middle is where you can set a split view.

Have you set up a vertical split view into three panels? If yes, click a mail in the middle panel and you can see the content of the mail right away in the right panel.

Tried out AdBlock Plus (ABP) which was the culprit. It prevented the contents of a Gmail to show up. Need to whitelist it on the ABP addon to FF8.

I have the same extension of ABP for Chrome. But...

Tried other browsers including IE, Opera, Safari and they all worked ok.

Returned to FF, disabled all add-ons, Wow, the Gmail content shows up. Which add on is the culprit :confused::D

This is quite undesirable if a program runs like this. I tried the same but luckily I was able to close sandboxed Firefox 8.0 properly with the Windows close button.
