Details

Greenshot offers capturing a full screen, regions with a magnifier, a window object, or an item from the list of open windows. It is a good feature that Greenshot displays image size instantly upon selection of a region or a window object for capturing.

After capturing an image with a shortcut key or from the system tray, you have a choice to save it to a file in various formats, save it to clipboard, send to printer, or open it with a strong built-in editor.

The built-in editor is excellent with sufficient tools that you may need to edit the captured image, including crop, resize, highlight, obfuscate, add text, draw shapes, add counter, and apply special effects, such as border, drop shadow, torn edge and more.

Greenshot is portable, open source and free for use in Windows system, but it charges a small fee for macOS users to cover the costs of developing this utility.

Upon installation of Greenshot, you may select some optional components to add to the utility, such as Microsoft Office plug-in, OCR plug-in, Jira plug-in, Imgur plug-in, Confluence plug-in and more.
