codec query
 
Hi I hope someone can helpme. I down loaded a video onto a memory stick today to play at home this eve and having just tried it out my computer says I need Codec
XVID MPEG - 4 ( XVID )
Where can I get this and how do I down load it
thanks, I hope to watch the video tonight.:)

Hi, welcome to the forum :).

Which media player are you using to view the video?

Windows Media Player won't play MP4.

You can use VLC media player, which is excellent, and quite easy to use.

You can also use PotPlayer, which is excellent too.. but general users may find it difficult to use, because of the different settings. Still, it's a great player, and will be able to play the file without problems.

You won't need to install any codecs with these media players.

Thanks for your speedy reply, it is windows media player I'm afraid
Can i download one of those other ones for free
Which one would you suggest for someone who is not good with computers?
and can you direct me exactly to where to download it from?

I will suggest VLC Media Player to you :).

yey +1 for VLC player too . sorry Microsoft but windows media player is rubbish
