Default No audio in PotPlayer

Greetings & Salutations

Whilst playing my downloaded Korean Historical Drama on Potplayer & desirous to replay a small portion I advanced the film, accidentally switching ON the "MUTE" button, thereby ne-
gating "Sound"! My attempts to switch Mute to Off resulted in failure, I opened the Audio files trying everything possible to no avail.

I use SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio on my PC, the sound on everything else is
loud & clear. I solicit ur assistance in this matter, TY.

To switch "Mute" to off, simply hit the Mute button again, or right click on interface->Audio->Deselect mute. If you simply increase the volume as shown in the indicator it won't be muted anyway.

If that didn't work, in right click->Audio options, there are lots of variables you can set,

Select Audio Stream as "both", Audio Renderer as "automatically" or any that you like, S/PDIF Renderer as "default" etc etc........

Are you not having sound for any media file you're playing? Or for specific file types??

If nothing helped you, try resetting PotPlayer settings to default, (Right click on interface->Preferences->Click Initialize button on the bottom left.)

Post Potplayer 1.5.34665-beta Audio NOT playing

Hello George:

TY for ur prompt reply to my query, I've followed ur advice most assiduously, but am still unable to hear any sound from Potplayer, I thought that this problem was previously fixed.
To wit, FYI, I'm on Vista, Home Premium, all my files are updated, I doublechecked my other sounds mp3,mp4, youtube, everything works fine, loud & clear. It's only Potplayer
that's problematic! My codecs are current. I reset my settings in Potplayer to default
several times with no success.

On my system I reset Cache to zero, thereby having plenty of space available, presently have 367 gigabytes free. Would u pls be kind to offer a solution to my problem? TY.

Isn't any audio working with PotPlayer like mp3? How about audio in your movie files?

To start with I hope that you have not installed any external codec packs (like K-Lite etc) which may cause problems with external video players like PotPlayer. If you've done so please uninstall the codec packs as they are not required to play videos on PotPlayer, and will mess with the system in a bad way sometimes.

Your problem is strange, you might want to uninstall and re-install PotPlayer again. Additionally try re-installing DirectX

Let me know if that works out.

Post Potplayer 1.5.34665-beta Audio NOT playing

Hi George.J

Audio in Potplayer is NOT working at ALL, no sound whatsoever,mp3,mp4,youtube all are on the blink, unfortunately watching an exciting movie or episodes w/o sound is no fun! Yes I did d/l K-Lite codecs which I uninstalled after ur advice.

My DirectX was ver.11, which was replaced by a lesser version DirectX 9.0-c, upon testing, Potplayer Audio STILL not working, did everything per what was recommended by instructions on the interface>Audio.

Finally in total frustration I uninstalled Potplayer, removed it, & then reinstalled it again, but much to my displeasure the problem wasn't rectified ... NO SOUND in Potplayer!!

Checked my system, sound is loud & clear everywhere but Potplayer, have no idea as to why? What caused it as everything worked fine for 5 days, until I accidentally moved my
volume cntrl over Mute (cause of aggravation since that time), switching Mute off & On again didn't/doesn't help. Ur efforts to help me are much appreciated, thx much.

Please tell us what OS you are using, the version and whether it is 32/64bits?

Are you using the 32 bit version of PotPlayer? The 64bit version of PotPlayer isn't really optimized so you should download the latest 32bit version and use it. The 32 bit version works well on 64bit systems too. If your problems aren't solved, then you could download an older version and test it. Myself, I use the 32bit version v.1.5.34665 and have no problems even after clicking the mute button and whatsoever.

If you did download and install K-Lite Codec Pack in these 5 days, then it has messed with the system really badly. You might need to re-install Windows itself and once problems crop up it will be irreversible. This is one of the reasons why we don't advice to install mega codec packs.

If there is one more thing that you can do, is to re-install once more in a different Drive and then right click->Filters->Advanced Filter settings and switch the option to the right of mp3 to built-in decoder and then play an mp3 file again. If that didn't work, switch it back to system default and try once again.

Finally go to Preferences->General->Store settings to .ini file which makes PotPlayer portable and then trying playing some audio..

You still didn't mention whether you installed or updated K-Lite Codec Pack after installing PotPlayer. Because this is the strangest issue I've seen of no audio, even myself doesn't have these problems with the latest version.

So the problem isn't within PotPlayer but externally in your system. Especially Vista since it's worst O.S that's ever made, creeps up my doubts.

Why don't you try this workaround in the following order itself..

1. Try renaming PotPlayerMini.exe in C:\Program Files x86/Daum/PotPlayer to PotPlayerMini2.exe and play again. (Note that you won't be able to use the shortcut in desktop now) Do you have sound? If this helped let me know, because then it's the problem with the mixer settings in Vista.

2. Next type "%appdata%" without the quotes after clicking Start button in Windows inside the search box and delete the folder PotPlayerMini. Also go one folder back by clicking the back button, so that you reach Appdata folder and then move into Local->Temp and delete the folder PotPlayer. Now try starting up PotPlayerMini2 from C:/Program Files x86/Daum/PotPlayer and play some videos. Do you have sound yet?

3. On PotPlayer interface, right click->Audio->Audio Renderer->Change it to Waveout. Does that help?
