That's great Jojo. Well, I won't be changing phones anytime soon, maybe for a few years , and also Samsung is not offering OS upgrade for the phone.. still, I hope a few of those tips will apply to the older Android .

They will, but I'll start out from 4.0 as a basis then add some steps or notes that are applicable to the older versions.

saw the startup things

es task manager app has a startup tab where you can disable ones you dont want
the gemini app manager as well has a autorun option for apps that you can play with to disable things

I use both and am rather happy with how each work

A few days ago I got an android phone that has now been rooted. The current version of android on the thing is V2.2.2, is it advisable to upgrade to a current version and if yes can you please give me a link to some info on how to do this?

Nevermind. Since nobody bothered to respond i did some research and answered my own question and now understand that what i asked is not possible. Several hours well spent. O.o
