Thanks for the reply Leland... very helpful.

I guess Titanium Backup will only work on rooted phones? If yes, then it won't be useful for me now, maybe later.

Android Assistant looks good with loads of features.

Startup Auditor is not free I think. Didn't see a free version. If yes, then I will have to edit it out... as we will discuss only freeware here.

There's a free version called "Startup Auditor Free". You can get it here: https://market.android.com/details?i...tupAuditorFree

Though this is quoting from Jeff of SonyXperia Support, I think the concept is about the same:

Quote:
- The Xperia arc does contain 512MB RAM.
- There is an amount taken by the Android OS that will not be accounted for in apps. designed to show statistics.
- The amount of RAM available for user apps. can vary based on customization and branding.

As Android is based on Linux, you can also read the total amount of RAM from this text file at \proc\meminfo

Startup Auditor Free is limited to controlling 5 startup processes. However it works even on non-rooted phones which some of the other startup controller programs can not say.

I was just looking at my old LG and remembered I had an app installed called AutoKiller Memory Optimizer. It is a great app for doing many different tweaks to Android. You might want to check it out as it made my slow LG run much more smoothly.
