Exclamation A dangerous new Android malware uncovered

This new malware is disguised as the legit and popular free mobile messaging Kakao Talk, with the only difference that this "tweaked version" asks for some extra permissions.

Quote:
"The malware would encrypt contact data, call history, SMS logs and cellular network configuration to an encrypted file. It would contact a command and control server called android. It would also read SMS messages and if the message contained certain code, it would reply with base station ID, tower ID, mobile network code and mobile area code information for the victim’s Android device."
Apparently this app was specifically aimed at Tibetan activists, but it seems to have spread among unofficial app markets. The worst part is that several Anti-malware apps (Avast!, Kaspersky and Lookout) failed to detect it.

Advice: Download apps from official sources only and always read the permissions the app needs before confirming its installation.
