Resolved [Android] Test the new ES Explorer version 3!

If you are the kind of people who like to have all your files under control, then it is very likely you have ES Explorer installed on your Android device.

ES Explorer is a great app but the UI looked a bit outdated by today's standards. Fortunately, its developers have launched a Public App Test (build 3) which looks simply great and seems pretty stable too. You can download it from this thread at XDA-Developers.

If you have decided to give it a try and install it, feel free to report any bug or problem you may encounter to the developers. That way we can help them to improve the final version of this already great app.

Thanks again for another wonderful news IO.Hazard. ES Explorer is what I use on my phone, and I love it. It's great to see that they are working on a new version.

Can this be installed alongside the present version of ES Explorer, or the current one has to be uninstalled?

It is my pleasure to share things like this Anupam.

As regards your question on the compatibily with the previous version the answer is YES. You can install this public test without uninstalling your current ES Explorer installation which is great, isn't it?.

I decided to back up and uninstall my previous version of ES Explorer so I won't run into any compatibility problems (better safe than sorry) but as I said the app seems rock-solid to me.

I installed it on the phone today, and it installed as a different app than the version 2 of ES Explorer, which is great. Now, I can use both app versions on my phone. Good job there by the developers.

To be honest, in terms of interface, I like the old version better. You can set up wallpaper in it, set up different color icons for folders, but not in the new version. Maybe they will introduce new themes later on.

But, in terms of usability, features, functionality, etc, they have really improved in this new version. I really love it. I already liked their app manager, and now they have introduced download manager, network manager, System Manager, Root Explorer, sd card analyst, etc. These are really useful tools. With network manager, you can create your own hotspot. SD card analyst is another really useful one... I have another small app for it, but seems like I don't need it anymore .
It was because of these extra features that I had chosen ES File Explorer over others, like Astro File Manager, which I had on my phone earlier.

It seems pretty stable for a test app, from what I have used it so far.

They are really making this into a great app. Kudos to the developers. Eagerly waiting for the final version now.

I'm loving the new version too Anupam. I know the new revamped UI came as a shock for most of us, but when you see how the developers managed to make it work with the rest of the new functions, well, it makes sense.

The developers just released a new version (build 0410) and they talk about a formal update feature in the 0420 version.

You can download the new version from the same link within the first post.

I had tried the new ES Explorer on my phone. But, later in the day, I noticed that I was not able to download apps from the Play Store. After trying a lot, when I was not able to download, I thought it was because of ES since it has a download manager integrated now, and maybe somehow that interfered with the downloading of the apps. So, I removed ES. Didn't solve the problem.

I also performed a factory reset of the phone, and the problem is still there. I now think it's because of some problem in Play Store.

Still, am somewhat reluctant to try ES. I will install once the final version is out.

I think the problem was with Play Store. I read that Play Store is getting revamped with a new interface and all, and they are slowly rolling it out. Maybe that's the reason behind the issue I had. Now, the apps are downloading properly. Feel stupid to perform factory reset.

Final version of ES Explorer will be out on April 20th, according to the developer. Looking forward to it . I certainly like the new interface, and the features. Changes like these are always exciting, specially in a good product.

The final version was to be released on April 20th, but they have released it today, two days earlier. It's available from the market for download. Enjoy!
