A pretty nice article and thanks for the link MC. Here are some quotable quotes:

Linux is getting more complex

"7,800 developers across 80 countries contributed to the last version of the Linux kernel. But as it becomes more complex is there a danger it become less accessible...?"

"So it's absolutely much harder to become a core developer today than it was 15 years ago. At the same time, I do think it's pretty easy to get into kernel development if you don't go for the most complex and central parts first."

It needs to be pre-installed for it to be popular

"Linux is popular in many areas of computing including smartphones and servers, but it has never had quite the same breakthrough on desktops...?"

"So I think that in order to make it in a consumer market, you really do need to be pre-installed. And as Android has shown, Linux really can be very much a consumer product..."

Sounds like some of our members here

"You work from home - how hard is it to avoid being distracted by family life and focusing on what must be very abstract concepts?"

"I'll happily sit in front of the computer the whole day, and if the kids distract me when I'm in the middle of something, a certain amount of cursing might happen."

Fascinating interview, I found this question very telling:

A very humble response:

In my opinion he's right up there with the likes of Edison, Ford or Tesla. He also seems to be a man of principal, which is rare now days. I noticed that he was careful not to give the impression that he endorsed any one distro.

Absolutely. This is the type of person the world needs in government instead of the mealy mouthed rubbish most of us seem to end up with.

Interesting link and topic. I'm not into gaming other than trying to hide from the wife, but this should cause a few Windows reflections around the world.
