I even saw the other day via their forum that someone had re-spun the latest openSUSE to include amongst other things the repos pre-configured. Marvelous!
I think people fall in love with a particular distro early on and they carry a flame for that distro forever. At one time I stuck with Simply Mepis no matter what. I finally tried Ubuntu (before the insanity) and moved on and never looked back. I settled with Mint Julia until Mint worked out the bugs in Mate. I'm using Mint 13 'Mate' now and I like it allot.

I reject the notion that Linux needs to be on bleeding edge when it comes to Operating Systems. There is a saying that explains my thoughts on the matter. KISS = "Keep It Simple Stupid"

Btw, Solus2 won't be beased on Debian, but will be made from scratch ...

"... We decided to take a larger step forward than originally anticipated, and get back to the roots. In following with a motto Ikey and I have always stood by, ("Innovate, not imitate"), we made the decision not to be based on any current distribution ...:

Good news - I hope it works.

Good comment and always a danger when there is just one main developer. Fusion Linux went down the pan (is going down the pan) this way, others already have and others like Comfusion are talking about it.

Solus has now reached Alpha 9 but with Xfce being deployed I fail to see how this can provide users with anything better than they can already get with the likes of Voyager, Xubuntu etc.

Also, this is not the most appropriate response to this type of post in your support forum.

WOW, the worst part is the administrator probably feels justified. I think he needs some fresh air and interaction with real people.

Solus V1 was IMO the best new distro to emerge for some time and then along came Gnome 3 and messed up their development cycle. During the consequent search for direction, I feel it now offers nothing new and the huge delay in getting a usable V2 out has all but relegated this to where it will remain, towards the bottom of the ratings chart. Also, with an attitude like that displayed towards folks posting in the forum, it makes me wonder whether his efforts are worthy of support anyway.

Real shame. I can think of several distros much higher up the rankings I'd like to have seen gone first.
