Default Media and linux

One of the primary reason I boot into Windows is to use the media utilities. Thanks to Dedoimedo I have discovered that those tools already exist in linux . He has a new list of "Best Linux software - The latest and greatest compilation" and in that list I picked out a couple of very good utilities for manipulating audio and video files including ripping DVDs. He also links a couple of outstanding tutorials. For audio look at "Working with multimedia files - Part 3: Audio - Tutorial". For video he has two very good tutorials one is How to create DVD movies in Linux with DeVeDe the other is How to rip DVD movies in Linux with Handbrake
I found his tutorials extremely useful by uncovering many of the not so obvious settings which I find is common with linux software.
Many of those utilities are also listed here at Gizmo's created and maintained by our very own Jojoyee Best Free Software for Linux
