Hey Linux users
I created a stub for what I reckon is the most useful Linux subject for visitors here. If you know anything about that stuff, please comment on pros and cons (on that review page) -- or even take it on. techsupportalert.com/best-simple-linux-distro.htm |

I'm interested in taking this on, not just to cover the most basic distros, but also to provide a short list of apps that can be used under Linux in place of the things that were used under Windows (play music/DVDs, look at images, manage your email, write a letter, just basic stuff.) If nobody has any objections, say within 48hrs, I'll take this on and let Elizabeth know. Cheers, Rik |

Sounds good. I think there is a crying need for a review of simple Linux distros that a Windows user can easily convert to. It would have to include Mepis and Xandros for example, as a must. The software to use is a different issue and would need another review. It definitely couldn't be included in the Distro review as that would wreck it. The distro review is intended to be for Mepis v Xandros v Linspire etc. Last edited by chris.p; 23. May 2009 at 02:46 PM. |
