Thanks for your reply.

I feel some amount of vindication. I spent a long time trying to get my old printer to work. Sometimes I just need to except not all things will work no matter how much effort is put into it. I really felt I could get it to work. Maybe someone with more experience could of.

Whats really cool is my new printer only cost $35 US thats about a third as much as my old one cost. Cartridges are still expensive that's why I'm hoping they will be easy to refill.

Anyway Merry Christmas to you and yours. Have a safe and healthy new year

I've never felt able to justify the running costs for a printer ever since I left an employment which provided one FOC.

That said, I mentioned to my wife recently that I could do with saving some stuff to hard copy and she said "we'll have to see what Father Christmas brings". This morning I got up early as I usually do to clear the site and sitting right at the front of my desk was....

... a pen and notepad!

Don't you just love 'em

A merry Christmas and safe New Year to one and all

Printers are cheap because the companies make their money on the ink.

As far as Linux and printers goes, I've never had any issues with HP printers on my Linux systems.

HP printers seemed to have a good reputation for working with Linux. I also installed HPLIP which makes me feel right at home with my printer.
With my old Lexmark X1185 All-In-One printer I had no choice but to boot into Widows to print.

Its great to have someone like you thats has good working knowledge of Linux at this forum. We have some good experience already helping out like Jojo and Ritho and others but as more and more of us windows users cross over to Linux there are times our resident experts get stretched thin. So newbies like me, welcome all the help we can get.

Anyway I will be looking forward to leaning more about the Bohdi distribution. I like most everyone else just want a hassle free OS that allows us to cast off the shackles of Windows.

Cheers

I plan to be lurking around some

Ubuntu really is my favorite base out of all the distros out there currently. In addition to Bodhi there are plenty of Ubuntu based distros worth checking out so you can see which work best for you.

Oh, also that link is to something on my personal blog. Lots of good reading there for those new to Linux and looking to learn some.

Almost the same as what I did... except that I use Windows and not... Widows.

Thanks for the useful link Jeff.

Now I use Linux Mint 10 as my primary Linux distro and Ubuntu 10.10 as secondary.
