"Information" says something about using "ntfsresize -badsectors". However, after some research it looks more complicated than I want to tackle.

I am debating whether just to install Peppermint over top of the XP partition and eliminate XP totally. But, I haven't gotten myself to make that plunge yet. For some reason, I keep wanting to hold onto this old laptop that I haven't used in over a year and keep XP on it. I guess old habits are hard to die....
I know excatly how you feel kendall after I installed Zorin and then Ubuntu on my LT. The former lacked wifi connectivity and the latter just kept on crashing.

Finally, I did a fresh reinstall of XP but this time I made sure of making an image using Paragon. So far everything is working fine; if you end up with a dud linux distro at least you can always welcome back an old friend!

That's disappointing about Ubuntu because for me although I preferred both Zorin and Peppermint I couldn't fault Ubuntu for stability. I had the occasional monitor flicker which is a know issue with my video card but apart from that everything worked well.
