I adore the BitDefender GUI which is a revelation considering what you normally get with Linux but it only has value if you think you might be passing on bad stuff to Windows users. As of course this could still be you via a dual boot or shared network then in this context it is useful
Very good point. I too dual boot between OS's. From time to time I will download an application and move it to my Microsoft Windows files to install later.
On this note, Dolphin has away to add scan for virus in its context menu. Go to settings, configure Dolphin, services, Download new services then look for scan with ClamAV. You also need to install Clam AV for this to work. I know BitDefender is probably better but it's a fast and lazy way to give it a check.
I have Avira on my Widows system that will check it again before I can actually install it.

Cheers

Thanks for the tip. Had read about this in the Ubuntu forum but never got round to finding where it was!

Was talking to my tech about this yesterday (who also uses Linux) and he said "why bother scanning for Windows viruses? Anyone using that deserves to be infected so let's help them achieve it!" His brother uses XP and got infected recently and he made him pay for a fix like a regular customer because he wouldn't switch to Ubuntu instead

Nice attitude, he must feel so clever and proud of himself.

His sense of humour is even worse than mine

What he can't appreciate though is that if everyone took his advice then his paying customer base would drop by about 90% as most of the time he just removes bugs from XP and W7 machines.
