Hi all, can anyone tell me if it's possible to boot from a usb HDD? I have a Netbook with 8gig SSD drive and 512meg ram running Linux Linpus. I'm trying to figure out if i can install XP on a usb HDD and boot from the netbook. Any help would be appreciated..

Linpus is a perverted version of Fedora for low spec pc/netbooks.
It might boot out-of-the-box, with some hacking it will...YMMV Give it a try and see...it will or will not, not going to blow-up ![]() Try some Fedora Forum's. |

After reading J.L.'s post it makes me wonder if you are really asking if you can, "install XP on a (external) usb HDD and boot," or if you meant to ask if you can install XP from a USB drive on your internal SSD drive instead of Linpus.
In other words are you wanting to have a portable XP that lives on an external USB drive and will boot any time you plug it in, while keeping the current linpus version installed on your netbook?
